The Kingdom of Heaven is Often Seen as Something in the Future, Something in the Sky

No matter what we do God isn’t going to give up on us and we need to trust God to overcome our fear and follow after him trusting HIS leadership.

How easy it is for us to live lives of contemplation and inaction. In the account of Deborah we see this woman speak on behalf of God to motivate Barak to action. To live in God’s purposes and for His Glory. May we not fall into this same temptation of inaction.

God’s ways are beyond our understanding. He is sovereign and is intent on rescuing us in disciplining us and rescuing us. He is creative and unique and worthy of worship!

Our sin is not superficial, it is not occasional. It is a much deeper and more pervasive problem that can only be conquered by the unsearchable depths of God’s grace. And yet, we are surprised when our sin and the sins of others reach our doorstep. Instead of being surprised by sin, we ought to recognize it and respond to it the same way God does

When King Herod and the people of Jerusalem heard about the birth of the Messiah - they were troubled. So too when we come face to face with the reality of our Savior - we are troubled and often panic ensues. The birth of Jesus calls into question our very lives and often what we expect from Him is not what He promises at all!
