Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Acts 20:35 which says "In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
"I don’t know about you, but I feel as though if my motives behind any of my actions come from a place of selfishness I end up feeling empty, and pretty much useless at the end of it all. I know that when I help others, serve others it leaves me happier than the person I helped.
So once again, that original question for today, How Do We Love Strangers? Well, the answer really comes from how does God show us love, and it’s simple we discussed it earlier this week, he extends grace even when, and really especially when we do wrong. Yet, He still blesses us.
The best way we can serve others, is to listen to their needs. Do they need an ear to talk to? A friend to lean on? What do they need? Don’t assume, but ask. The next time you come into contact with a person, ask them about their day and get to know them. I promise you, you will be much happier to learned of a new perspective than to retell yours for the 100th time this week.
We should be quick to extend grace and loyal to extending help. I pray that as we enter the weekend, we come across new people, people who need help, we meet them where they are and extend the help. We listen to them, ask them about their walks, see where we can help. Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus, and let’s love on our neighbors, our brothers & our sisters."
