Lauren and I talk a little bit about what bisexuality looks like on a deeper level than is typically spoken about in day to day conversations. I give my own perspectives and lived experiences of bisexuality, coming out, and the lifelong journey of learning that I’ve come to appreciate. We bring up a few really interesting topics; like the fact that the LGBTQIA+ community is, at its core, a system and what that means for queer folk as we pave the way for generations to come. This conversation is so fun and interesting, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg; so we encourage you to do your own research, find sources that feel good to you and immerse yourself in supportive and loving communities and conversations.

In this episode, Lauren and I talk through all the amazing experiences we had in New York. We had a beautiful gathering our first night there; toured the Met, the Museum of Sex, and Stonewall, saw a show off Broadway, and enjoyed stand-up at the Comedy Cellar. Lauren spoke on a panel about sex and relationship during menopause, then we rounded up the trip with a day in Brooklyn, visiting fun stores, cafes, and cherished friends. In this episode, I open up about my journey with STIs and how being tested after a sexual assault encounter was a crucial turning point for me. I share my experience with testing and treatment, highlighting the importance of sexual health. This topic is difficult, but so so important for anyone who is sexually active. I hope you see a new perspective on STIs after listening along to this episode.

Lauren and I have an eye-opening discussion comparing STIs to something we're more familiar with, like strep throat. We break down the truth that the danger of STIs lies in leaving infections untreated. We also shine a light on what treatment looks like – from antibiotic pills to shots – shedding light on the straightforward but vital process.

Speaking from my own experience with treatment and testing, I emphasize the importance of being proactive about your sexual health. We dive into the responsibility we have in notifying our sexual partners if we receive a positive test result. Communication is key, and it's a crucial part of safeguarding everyone's well-being.

Sex Ed For You isn't just about information – it's about empowerment. Lauren and I infuse this discussion with real experiences, laughter, and most importantly, a supportive atmosphere. We're here to dismantle stigma, educate, and encourage everyone to take charge of their sexual health with confidence.

For those who are curious, the testing ended up costing $45 at my local health department & they gave me tons of free, non-latex condoms! ;)
