First, listen to the episode, and then listen to the second segment, in which I break down the episode, line by line, and leave pauses so you have time to shadow (or echo/repeat) what I say. Then, it's recommended you listen to the episode again later to further improve your listening skills. This podcast is meant for learners of English, but anyone could enjoy it depending on the topic and mutual interest. 😊

In this episode of Shadow English Podcast, we explore a fun and useful idea from Todd Beuckens, the creator of ELLLO.org, a popular website for English listening lessons.
Todd shares his “4 Types of Students” theory, based on motivation.
He says students are usually one of these:
Player, Pupil, Participant, or Prisoner.
Each type has different reasons for learning—
Some love the subject,
Some love being a good student,
Some just enjoy the social time,
And some… don’t want to be there at all.
I also share my own thoughts about how teachers can support these different types in the classroom.
🎙 Shadow along line-by-line with this episode to practice listening, rhythm, and speaking!
