Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of 2 Corinthians 1:7 which says "7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort."
"When the scripture verse mentions, He shares in our sufferings, it wasn’t a surprise to me, I know that He lived a life where he was ridiculed and suffered a tragic death.
But reading the words “share in our comfort” was eye opening and then obvious. At first I thought of all the things that bring me comfort; family, chocolate, warm foods, cold ice cream, my favorite tv shows, laughter, love, a hug. All fo these things, I find in the world. Because God came to earth, He understands why we turn to food, and people to get us by. He had his own group of family and disciples that kept Him company.
But I think this verse stands as two meanings. Just as He shares in our comfort while he was on the earth, He also shares in our comfort right here in our present day, spiritually. Because he resides in us, he feels our pain. He asks us to lean on Him. So truly I know that chocolate can heal a sad day, but in reality just having a nice conversation with Jesus won’t only heal our day, but it will heal the wound. It will complete you, so that isolation doesn’t lead to suffering, but can lead to deepening our relationship with Him."
