Our guest is Nohnie Al-Jalil from Colorado Springs. Nohnie's journey to recovery took 24 years, but came to fruition May of 2018 when she "knew it was over." Now, her motto's are "keep doing what worked yesterday, to keep going today," and "my power is my pain, and my courage is my crown." Our guest is Erika Staggs from Denver. Erika shares her story of dealing with alcohol addiction, from her first drink at 16, to 3 DUI's in one month, blackouts, attempted suicide and the struggles of a functional alcoholic. While it can sometimes be easy for us to hide our drinking, eventually it always catches up to us. From addiction to recovery, Erika shares her life, and her journey to the success she is today as an accomplished Realtor here in Colorado. Yes, we do recover. This is sharing our stories.

Our guest this week is Lorez from Caring 4 Denver. "Caring 4 Denver" is a Denver-based organization that focuses on improving mental health, reducing substance abuse, and providing support for individuals experiencing homelessness in the community. Established in 2018 as a result of a voter-approved ballot initiative, the organization distributes funding to nonprofit organizations and service providers in Denver that are working to address these issues. Its mission is to promote mental wellness, prevent substance misuse, and improve access to mental health and substance abuse services in Denver. This week our guest is Julia Valdez Albertson. Julia shares her journey from addiction to recovery. Celebrating four years in her recovery, Julia is currently the Director of Judicial Services with Tribe Recovery Homes and is known as The Queen of Downtown Denver for her work in the recovery community. Her story, like so many, is one of heartbreak. Julia has expierenced a lot of it to realize she needed to make a change. Today, we celebrate the work she does, and the path she has taken to be a vital part of the recovery community.

This week our guest is Denver Mayoral Candidate, Leslie Herod, State Representative District 8. We discuss her platform for the upcoming election April 4th. Herod is a strong advocate for criminal justice reform, mental health and addiction treatment, affordable housing, and LGBTQ+ rights. She has sponsored, or co-sponsored several pieces of legislation related to these issues, including a bill to provide funding for affordable housing development, a bill to reform the cash bail system, and a bill to create a pilot program for supervised drug consumption facilities. In addition to her work in the general assembly, Herod has been involved with several organizations focused on criminal justice issues, including One Colorado, the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition and the Harm Reduction Action Center.
