Episode Title: Silence After the Layoff
Episode Description:
In this episode, I share my thoughts and feelings after the recent layoffs at the Lighthouse For The Blind. The atmosphere at work has completely changed — it’s quiet, heavy, and filled with worry. People don’t talk much anymore, especially about those who were laid off. Everyone is scared, wondering who might be next.
I spoke with one of the guys who works in the warehouse, and he told me how slow things have become. We have plenty of products, but nowhere to send them. That makes everyone uneasy, not knowing what the future will bring.
For me, it’s hard not to think about what would happen if I lose my job too. Working here isn’t just about earning money — it’s about being part of a family. We’ve shared laughter, struggles, and tears together. Now, everything feels so silent. Losing a job feels like losing a piece of yourself, because it’s not just work — it’s connection, purpose, and community.
I hope that by sharing this story, I can reach someone out there who’s going through the same fear and uncertainty. You are not alone. Even in silence, we still have hope, strength, and heart.

A Glimmer of Hope: Navigating Job Loss and Finding a New Path
In this deeply personal and empathetic episode, join us as we delve into the emotional aftermath of job loss, inspired by the journey of a colleague, Leah at the Lighthouse For The Bride. The weight of this experience is heavy—not just for Leah, but for the 15 people whose lives were recently upended.
We explore the raw, complex emotions that follow a layoff: the sadness, the anger, the feeling of being emotionally upset, and the paralyzing sense of depression that can make even small tasks feel insurmountable. The sense of loss is magnified by the missing connection with beloved coworkers, highlighting how important a kind and supportive workplace can be: "I miss everyone because everybody is so nice to me."
This conversation acknowledges a harsh reality: the job hunt is not easy, especially for those with low patience or, most crucially, for those facing significant challenges like no vision. We recognize just how difficult it is to navigate a job search when you are already running on empty.
More than just a narrative, this episode is a space to share empathy and offer a collective wave of goodwill. If you are struggling with a job loss, feeling the weight of the search, or simply need a reminder that you are not alone, this episode is for you. We hold space for the difficulty of the journey and offer a sincere wish: "I hope they can find something to do, a new job. Good luck everyone."
Tune in to feel validated, find a moment of shared humanity, and remember that even in the darkest times, a path forward is possible.

Surviving a Mass Layoff: Stress, Uncertainty, and Hope
In this deeply personal episode, host Anousone opens up about the intense stress and fear following a significant mass layoff at her workplace, The Lighthouse For The Bride.
After a year and a half on the job, Anousone recounts the terrifying experience of the "big clear" yesterday, where colleagues—nice people and friends—were let go. She shares her overwhelming feelings of sadness and sympathy for those who lost their jobs, as well as the personal anxiety about whether she would be next.
The Aftermath of the Layoff
Anousone details the fear that gripped her and her remaining coworkers. She describes waiting anxiously for news, finally feeling a temporary sense of relief after a meeting assured them there would be no more immediate layoffs. However, that relief is mixed with lingering uncertainty and profound sadness for her now jobless colleagues.
She reflects on the difficult reality for those who lost their mission and community, acknowledging that "mission loss is the big big part up struggling."
Finding Strength and Perspective
Despite the stressful situation, Anousone focuses on the positive: she still has her job, and she's committed to working hard and surviving. She discusses the vital lesson she's learned through this crisis: how to navigate herself through intense stress and anxiety.
Anousone hopes that by sharing her candid, emotional story—the fear, the sadness, and the resilience—it will serve as a reminder to listeners that they are not alone. She offers a message of solidarity and hope, trusting that better days are ahead for everyone struggling with similar fears or job loss.
Tune in to hear Anousone's raw account of surviving uncertainty and her inspiring journey toward finding strength in the face of fear.
Thank you for listening.
This episode addresses themes of job loss, workplace stress, anxiety, and mental resilience.
Sometimes life changes in ways we never expect. I never imagined I would find myself in this situation—isolated and unsure of where to turn. That changed when I began working at the Lighthouse for the Blind. Amen to that blessing.
There, I met wonderful people who truly care for one another. When I get lost, they guide me back; when I struggle, they offer a helping hand. It’s not a grammar or desk job, but it has been so much more than work—it has been a bridge to new connections and a source of learning.
Through this job, I’ve discovered that acceptance is not always easy, but it is possible. Each day, I grow stronger and more hopeful. I share my story in the hope that someone out there, feeling alone or uncertain, will see that they, too, can find their way forward.

In this episode, I want to share my journey of learning how to navigate
life with the support of my family, friends, and coworkers. Every day
brings its own challenges, but also lessons and blessings. I’ve learned
how to use technology, how to adapt at work, and most importantly, how
to accept my situation while continuing to grow.
Work can be tough, but I’ve discovered that it’s not just about the
job—it’s about the people. My coworkers and I support one another
because we all face struggles, even if they look different. Some days
are hard, but many days are good, and together we laugh, cry, and push
forward. I remind people at work that we’re not only there for the
paycheck—we’re there for each other.
Through all of this, I’ve learned not to isolate myself, but to connect
with people, lean on their strength, and share mine when I can. Life
isn’t perfect, but with the love of family and the encouragement of
friends, I know I’m not alone.
I hope by sharing my experience, someone out there listening will feel
less alone too. You’re not the only one going through struggles. We all
face challenges, but we can overcome them with support, patience, and
hope. I’m thankful for everyone who stands beside me, and I’m grateful
to share this journey with you.
Thank you for listening.
