If the word “sales” makes you squirm, it’s time to evaluate how you expect to make money in your business. We women have it systemically ingrained in us that we shouldn’t speak up, therefore it can be tough to make sales in the early stages of your business. More sales and more successful sales calls comes with practice.
As a badass business owner, it’s up to you to ensure you develop your voice and don’t get lost in the shuffle.
I get requests all the time regarding social media posting schedules and sales scripts, but if you don’t believe in yourself or the solutions you offer, then the sales will stagnate. You can only successfully sell your service if you’re genuinely passionate about it and have enough grit to muster through the rough patches, learning as you go.
Your services have the potential to change people’s lives. Begin talking openly about how your services will positively impact people’s lives, how you make things better or easier for clients, and how much better they are after working with you.
Confidently share your knowledge and you’ll begin getting sales. Document the transformation your clients experience through your work - gather this “proof” in the form of reviews, testimonies, and recommendations from your clients.
In this episode, listen for:
Must-listen Moments:
[6:50] There’s a difference between being confident that you offer the best solution and exaggerating your abilities. Integrity is important.
[11:57] It's not about following a script; it's about knowing in the depths of your soul that you provide an excellent solution for clients.
[12:40] Solving problems for the people in front of you is at the heart of being a great saleswoman i.e. profit maker

If you haven’t figured it out already, I have a very No Bullshit approach to coaching women entrepreneurs toward profitable endeavors. Women, particularly business owners, have long been taught to play nice and avoid standing out. In business, however, it’s often the opposite. You need to be bold, speak up, and exude confidence about the solution you bring to the market. While I may come off as abrupt at times, that’s never my intention. My purpose as your business coach is to give you that extra push, hold you accountable, and help you reach your goals.
Ultimately, I aim to empower you and help you make profit. Sometimes that might mean telling you something you don’t want to hear. Growth, wealth, and the success you dream of are possible through your business, but you may have to work out your grit muscle. This can happen while you're listening to the podcast or during our 1:1, but the idea is for you to grow beyond your current stage of business/income/life.
In this episode, listen for:
Must-listen Moments:
[10:23] I want my coaching to both inspire and motivate you to take action.
[11:24] To provide value and feedback, having open and honest dialogues is essential.
[12:26] The road to business ownership will not be easy; don't take the easy way out.
If you’re ready to tackle your business and income goals this year, I’d like to walk with you through your offers, sales calls, marketing, and (maybe my favorite part) your numbers. Whether you’re making 5 figures or 6 or more, there’s always growth to be had, and together we’ll get you to the next level.
Ready to kick some ass and make a profit?

It is 100% possible for your business to reach and exceed your goals in 2022. However, there’s no magic pill or single strategy that will make growth easy.
In contrast, I do believe there’s a magic ingredient. No matter your sales experience or revenue level, you’ll occasionally question what you’re missing or what one thing you should be doing that will suddenly elevate you to the next level. It’s just a matter of time before you figure out the exact puzzle pieces and learn to apply them in the correct sequence.
Day in and day out, every business owner battles with thoughts; “Am I good enough?”, “Am I capable of getting to the next level?” You wonder if you’re ready for this, if you’re ready to keep going with your business. Grit is the secret ingredient.
Even though you have doubts, you still wake up every day and strive for the goals and growth that you know you’re capable of. Stick it out in your business by showing up, sticking to your plan, reviewing, and renovating as you go.
It’s the start of a new year; now is the moment to believe in yourself. If you need support, don’t be reluctant to ask; there are many resources available to help you reach and achieve your goals.
You have everything you need to get to the next level already inside of you. Remember, you’re a badass business owner and YOU ARE going to achieve those goals because you are capable of accessing all the grit you need to forge your way forward.
In this episode, listen for:
Must-listen Moments:

[7:28] Believe in your ability to be profitable since you’re showing up and carrying out plans for the future

You built this badass business from the bottom up and can operate it any way you want. But, in order to truly craft a profitable business that supports the lifestyle you ultimately want, you must first identify your values.
As an entrepreneur, you have the amazing opportunity to assess what parts of your life do you love? Which parts of your life need an adjustment? How can we create more of the life we love and reduce the number of frustrations, annoyances, and misaligned activities?
We all need big, important goals in our biz and our personal lives.
Building a business and being deliberate about how you spend your time will have a significant impact on how happy, satisfied, and successful you feel, which will positively impact other areas of your life as well.
Take some time to identify your top priorities in all areas of your life - your family, friends, and business - and design your business hours and operations around the lifestyle, leisure, and joy you want in your life.
You don’t need to have your phone on you at all times. You don’t have to respond to emails at 10 pm. Keep in mind that you’re in control of this business and that you can set boundaries in any area.
Now that you’ve identified how you spend your time (part 1), how much money came in/out of your biz and why (part 2), and discovered which areas of your business were most profitable and therefore where to double your efforts (part 3). It’s time to take those time and revenue goals, and work them into your schedule around the other, most important parts of your life.
In this episode, listen for:
Must-listen Moments:
[3:17] A values exercise with my coach
[6:15] Questions I ask myself about achieving my goals in business and family. Take these and ask yourself too!
[12:05] Constantly reassess your values throughout the year in order to avoid being distracted

In the corporate world, we know we’ll get X amount of dollars for X number of hours, but entrepreneurship carries a very different story. In this episode, the third of this four-part goal-setting exercise to CRUSH 2022, we’re evaluating the relationship between time and money.
In the first episode of this short series, I asked you to audit your time, both business and personal, so that you could identify how much you’re actually working versus enjoying life. I’m pretty sure you didn’t decide to become an entrepreneur so you could work 80 hours a week and still be broke.
In the second episode of this short series, I asked you to audit your biz finances and I walked you through a very simple exercise that helped you identify your revenue and expenses by client/vendor by month.
Now it’s time to examine the relationship between those two sets of data. In entrepreneurship, you can create any amount of money in any window of time - it all boils down to focused activity, support systems, and duplicating what works while ditching what doesn’t.
When faced with a question about why goals aren’t being met, most entrepreneurs skirt around the “there’s not enough time” excuse. The truth is, you have more time than you think.
When you look at the amount of time it takes and the focused activity it takes to get new clients, you can double down on that. Hone in on the methods that are bringing clients in the door easily and ditch the methods that don’t work.
Same story with revenue. Identify how much focused production time it takes to make X amount of revenue and then find ways to do more of that and less scrolling on social media :)
Set client and revenue goals for yourself and work backwards from there to better understand how you can attain them. You won’t be scrambling at the end of the year once you’ve established this habit. It will take time right now, but I assure you it will pay off and your business will flourish.
In this episode, listen for:
Must-listen Moments:
[4:25] Make the best of the time you do have instead of focusing on not having enough.
[7:32] Outsourcing can improve the efficiency of your business. Whenever possible, I outsource so that I can focus on other tasks that I am good at.
[12:02] Begin with the end in mind, and use the data to work backward, revealing the milestones you need to hit to achieve your goals.

In this second episode of this four-part series, I’m sharing a very simple money tracking activity that can help you get past your fears and start making business decisions like the badass CEO you are.
Getting a handle on your prior year’s business finances is a key component to knowing what worked, what didn’t, and setting gritty goals for CRUSHing 2022.
In the first episode of this series (Episode 10, CRUSH 2022 pt 1), I asked you to do a time audit so that you have the data to evaluate how much of your time generated money.
Now that you’ve learned how to audit your time, you’ll learn how to audit your business revenue and expenses, which are just fancy words for money in and money out.
Here are some questions to ask yourself:
How much money have you earned? (business revenue i.e., money in)
How much have you spent? (business expenses i.e., money out)
Is it possible to improve either of those categories? (decrease expenses and increase revenue)
In the long run, reviewing your biz finances will benefit you greatly since you need to know what's going on so that you don't waste time and energy on clients or events not worth the effort. When you’re done with this simple money exercise, you’ll have the information you need to discover your best, most profitable clients, and set boundaries around expenses and less profitable clients.
In this episode, listen for:
Must-listen Moments:
[2:58] How much money have you spent over the past year on your business?
[5:13] Assessing both - Expenses and Revenue
[5:48] Which clients are most profitable and which are superstar referral partners?

We are once again nearing the end of the year and looking forward to the next one with hope. This episode is the first of a four-part series on setting goals in your business so you can CRUSH 2022.
By looking back and how your time and energy was spent this past year and understanding the results that effort produced, we can more accurately plan goals, adjust behavior accordingly, and design the business and the lifestyle we really want.
The first step to goal setting - hold on, before you get all dreamy and excited - is to look back at how you spent your time in 2021. Yep, I want you to perform a time audit.
How did you spend your time over the course of the past year?
During your designated work hours, were you focused on revenue-generating activities?
During your personal time, were you present with your family and enjoying life?
When you set time to work or play, are you being truthful with your time? If you honestly devote your focus during your work hours to producing results, you will attain your goals in any time frame you choose. What portion of your work time was actually spent on marketing, client retention, client delivery, networking, follow-ups, bookkeeping, project management, etc.?
These are all important data points.
Your time audit should include all hours of the day - business hours, carpool time, evening hours, personal time - everything. What do you do with your free time when you’re not working on your business?
To achieve a life (and business) full of fulfillment, happiness, and profit, you’ve got to have time for yourself, your family, and your business. You need time off to enjoy this lifestyle you’re actively designing day after day. What’s the point if you can’t enjoy the fruits of your labor?
But without being honest with yourself about how you spent your time last year, you can’t expect to properly set (or have any hope of achieving) goals for your grittiest, most badass self.
In this episode, listen for:
Must-listen Moments:
[4:41] When you look at how you spent your time over the last year, you'll uncover data about your accomplishments thus far.
[7:10] Examine your month-by-month data to determine if you achieved your goals, plus a few questions you can ask yourself as you analyze that information.
[8:32] How much time have you spent working on projects that aren't related to your business? Designing your profitable business around the lifestyle you want.

I was once a chronic procrastinator. I used to believe that I produced best under the pressure of a tight deadline. I always got things done and achieved OK outcomes, so it wasn’t a big deal to me.
Now, as mom of four and CEO, I can’t live like that!
Planning well, batching work, and writing things down will help you avoid doing things at the last minute.
When you plan to do things at the last minute, it’s inevitable that something else will happen to derail your plans. The internet will go out, the school will call, the dog will shred their bed - something will happen to further distract and delay you which will lead to stress and may even make you look like a frazzled, irresponsible business owner.
You started your business so you could enjoy the kids, have a more flexible schedule, and because you believed you could do better on your own than in a cubicle.
By attempting to plan, prepare, and work ahead, you will get to actually enjoy the time and freedom you have always desired.
Time management doesn’t have to be difficult, but having a system in place will make a significant impact for you and your business.
In this episode, listen for:
Must-listen Moments:
[6:32] Make a plan, determine your priorities
[10:30] Batching work has made a significant difference in my life, I highly recommend it!
[12:25] Reevaluate what's on your schedule; is it important or not?

To grow your business, you need to be heard. You’ve got to be able to tell people what you do, what problem your business solves for clients, and confidently discuss options and pricing about your offers. Discovering your voice can be scary at first, but ultimately rewarding.
When you first start your business, some of the first advice out there is about creating your avatar and determining who your target audience is.
While that’s a great exercise to navigate, biz start-up advice is often lacking guidance on how to communicate with your potential client about your product or service.
You’re tasked with finding language that resonates with your ideal client that simultaneously communicates how your service or product solves their problem.
Until you put messaging out there, you’ll have no idea if it will be received well or not, so you have to just start experimenting. Try, tweak, practice, revise, and try again.
Practice telling others what you do, develop a consistent message, and work to communicate what you do clearly and as concisely as possible.
Practice speaking confidently about your business - in the mirror, to your plants or pets, in the car, etc. You may feel silly, but until what comes out of your mouth sounds smooth and confident while connecting perfectly with your target audience, you have work to do.
From experience, you may stumble on your words at first, but you can do this!
In this episode, listen for:
Must-listen Moments:
[9:30] Create a consistent message
[2:02] Check that your message is resonating with those you want to attract
[10:57] Share your message and what you do at every opportunity

Have you struggled with pricing, offering too much for free, or billing for what you’re worth?
Some people carry the assumption that if you’re helping others or it’s your talent or if it comes naturally to you, that you should be giving it away for free - Quite the opposite!
Ask yourself if you’re running a legitimate business or if it’s just an expensive hobby. To share your services/products, get results, and earn money, you must first get into the right mindset.
Sure, at first, talking about money, pricing, or the value of your solution can be intimidating, but you’re the CEO. Your bottom line is the direct result of the impact you make in the world, and to make a big impact you have to get out there and confidently charge a reasonable rate for your product or service. It all boils down to your confidence and your expectation of payment in exchange for your offered value.
When you contribute value, it will return to you 100 percent. Sharing knowledge, connecting with others, and supporting acquaintances' needs all count as good deeds, but you need boundaries.
As an example, while I happily jump on a call to talk business or answer a few questions, it's imperative that I have a firm boundary in place and can make the call when a paid coaching session is in order.
Remember two things: First, support other fellow entrepreneurs in your life. You can share about their businesses or products online, even if you don't become a direct customer.
Second, ditch the notion that asking for money is bad, rude, or greedy. If you feel this way, there are some money mindset issues we can address privately.
Share the solution you offer and expect others to pay what it’s worth; you’re deserving of every penny.
In this episode, listen for:
Must-listen Moments:
[6:15] People are willing to spend money on the things that infuse value into their lives
[8:02] Eliminate the concept that expecting to be paid for your expertise is somehow bad
[9:10] People will happily pay for solutions to their problems
