Miz Baker was born into poverty in 1906, and her showbiz career made her one of the richest Black women in the world by the time she was in her 20s. But being a beloved stage icon wasn't enough; she also worked for the French Resistance as a spy during World War II and was a civil rights pioneer. Did you know this iconic showgirl spoke right before Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech in the 1963 March on Washington? Crazy, non?
