On today's episode I am accompanied by Roxanne Francis, who is a Registered Social worker and Psychotherapist right here in Toronto, Canada. Roxanne has been doing this work for over 10 years, and provides individual and group counselling services to families, couples and children. During this episode Roxanne and I acknowledge the importance of having this conversation, particularly during a pandemic, and we talk about how frequent anxiety is during this time. Roxanne provides tips, tools, and techniques on how to navigate emotions from various standpoints(physically, spiritually mentally, etc). An important aspect of this discussion is the application of scripture within this context, acknowledging that the Holyspirit is a guide and a comfort during these difficult and uncertain times. Our prayer is that you walk away with applicable tools and tips on how to navigate, but most importantly we pray that the Holyspirit will provide comfort and peace for you; and we pray that you remember He is always with you and He will never leave you.
You can find Roxanne at https://www.francispsychotherapy.com and on instagram @francispsychotherapy. Should you need any counselling support, Roxanne is currently accepting clients.

As we close out the year I believe there is a seed the Holyspirit wants to place in our hearts; it is the seed of Pace, as He is calling us to Pace ourselves. 2020 has been quite the year, and we have had to contend with a lot. We are currently still going through a global pandemic, we have seen racial injustice first hand, and we have our own personal day to day circumstances. If we’re honest with ourselves it has been quite a bit to navigate. And here we are in December, getting ready for 2021. A huge aspect of emotional wholeness is realizing that you’re in competition with no one but yourself, and you won’t have to perform in order for Jesus to love you. Additionally, I know many of us had a plethora of goals we wanted to accomplish this year, and as we’re in December some of us may be feeling down or we may feeling as though we didn’t accomplish as much as someone else. On today's podcast episode I give you 5 practical ways to pace yourself, and we dig into the word of God for examples of pacing ourselves. We also do a little bible study illustrating how God wants us to pace ourselves in this context. Oh and I don't want to forget the prophetic insight! I know we haven't connected in a while, so I will remind you to grab your notebooks and your pens, because you're going to need it!

On today's podcast I talk about my season of rest, and why I am taking this sabbatical time to regroup. As usual I am transparent and vulnerable about my anxieties, and about the hard parts of being on a sabbatical. I also share a really awesome research on the 7 types of rest by Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, this is a resource that will change your life, and shift your perspective on rest. Enjoy and I will see you all in 10 weeks!
As a follow up to our live discussion on why Black women need safe spaces of healing, this week we talk about the importance of sisterhood during the healing process. We were never created to be alone or to live in silos, however, very often we are going through things alone. And the truth is we crying out for help. We go through things alone for a few reasons. First, a lot of the times we have emotional walls up, and we don’t trust others to let them in. Secondly, we have been hurt by what has been coined as sisterhood, and we don’t want to be the topic of anyone’s group chat, or the tea everyone is sharing. Last but not least, we are afraid of being judged, or condemned if we share our experiences. Of course these are just a few, and we address these topics along with a few more .
Joining me on this week's podcast are some My sister’s Keeper alumni who have gone through their own healing journey, and has embraced healthy sisterhood during their process!. This conversation was both therapeutic and soul stirring! You will feel sisterhood. I Know it will bless you, and challenge you to find healthy sisterhood on your own healing journey.

Healing is very uncomfortable. It is a place of vulnerability, and transparency; and women, particularly Black women, need safe spaces for this type of deep inner healing to take place. As I prepare for 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘱𝘭𝘶𝘨 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯’𝘴 𝘙𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 in a few weeks I wanted to have some conversation around this aspect of healing and safe spaces. The truth, is a lot of Black women have experienced deep hurt by what has been coined as safe spaces, and this has negatively affected their healing journey. In addition, some Black women don’t feel comfortable opening up and being vulnerable in order to facilitate their healing journey; or they are scared of the word healing because they may have a lot to unpack. Joining me on today's episode are my sisters, Taylor Banks and Atia Heals; discussing the topic 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨. We define what is a safe space, why these spaces are important, and holistic healing/wholeness among Black women. Got your notebooks and pens? Because you are going need it! You are in for a treat!

The church detox continues. This week I discuss the grieving process of change. For many of us God is calling us to a season of change and transition, and He is preparing us for the various emotions that we will experience when we say yes to this change. During this time, He is gracing us and giving us tools to build our internal fortitude in oder to embrace the change and the shift that will come. Change is never easy, and being outside of our comfort zone is never easy. Transition comes with its ups and downs, and sometimes self doubt is at the forefront, as we question whether or not this is God. During this episode expect clarity and expect the Lord to speak to you. However, beware that you will be challenged to step out of the boat, walk on water, and live life outside of the box.
