Christie Goodwin is a music photographer who has photographed a huge number of bands. She started photography at a young age using her father's film camera and studied photography in art school because she felt she wasn't suited for technical school.

Her first experience of music photography was shooting a friend's covers band, and when someone sent her images to the manager of Status Quo, he hired her to photograph the band.

Although she has struggled with imposter syndrome and faced challenges as a female photographer, Christie has always persevered and built her confidence and portfolio. She enjoys capturing the passion and creativity of musicians, and recommends embracing the conditions you're given rather than fighting them.

After being laid off from her job as a business consultant, Makayla bought herself a Nikon D7000 camera and started charging $50 for photo shoots. She felt that launching a new business with limited knowledge was less scary than not earning money with a young family to feed and a mortgage to pay. She learned by watching YouTube and attending workshops as she went along, focussing on improving the weakest areas of her skill set to grow her business and make more money.

These days she runs a successful wedding photography business with her husband, is in demand as a speaker and is the youngest director of the Professional Photographers of America, the World's largest professional photographers' association.

Makayla is a keen advocate of in-person sales (these days via Zoom) and providing prints to create an emotional impact and improve sales. She's seen first-hand how prints can transform her client's lives by boosting their self-esteem and confidence. It's made her realise that running a photography business is about far more than making money. Digital photos may have become the norm, but Makayla believes the real value of photography is in tangible printed products that clients can enjoy for years.

Contrary to popular belief, there was a 15-year gap between Rachael Talibart leaving her job as a solicitor and her becoming a professional photographer. During that time, she raised her children, studied for a couple of English Literature degrees and enjoyed photography as a hobby.
As Rachael's children got older, she was increasingly drawn to photography and it was while she was attending a workshop in Venice that she realised that she wanted to make it a career. It was only a few months after her 'epiphany' that she had her first solo exhibition. Wind forward to the present day and Rachael is now well-known for her stunning fine art images of stormy seas, she's had exhibitions in Europe and the United States, she's a sought-after workshop leader and she's about to publish her fourth book.
