There are a few bumps in the road in Shogun 1980. Bad wigs aside, this show doesn’t flesh out characters in the same way Jim and A.Ron were hoping for. Mariko, a fan favorite from Shogun 2024, is severely lacking. But where this show compensates is in the absolute bonkers directing.
