  • Nancy Norbeck - Follow Your Curiosity

Nancy Norbeck has been in tech, teaching, earned an MFA and still felt there was more out there for her.

Too many people work and follow the grind planning to enjoy their life "after" they have put in their time, only to find they can't do what they could do when they were younger, healthier, more physically able etc. Nancy knew that the time to enjoy life is in the present.

This fantastic discussion hi lights bits of wisdom including:

    • Remembering who you have always wanted to be
    • If you ignore the process and focus on the product you will miss the best part of the experience
    • Ask yourself, what's the worst that can happen?
    • Take that leap THAT day.

        Special Bonus Episode

In this Bonus episode of Should Theory, my 18 year old daughter, Kelcie and I have real talk about things that weigh us down, expectations, quitting, pressure we put on ourselves, and our fears.

There is so much we carry, so much we try to do for our kids and so much they try to do for us. There are things our children see, understand and take with them that we don't realize.

In this episode we talk about:

        • Leading by example
        • Different views of "quitting"
        • Pressure to succeed
        • Striving to understand and more-
        • This is a real, non-scripted conversation with my daughter. The first of many Bonus Episodes that stray from our usual model but speak to us where it counts.

          • Lynsy Karrick-Wikel - Staying True to Yourself

Sometimes, when you need to make a change in your life, venturing out on your own or becoming an entrepreneur is NOT the answer. Sometimes you just need to find the company or organization that speaks to you and that you believe in.

Lynsy Karrick-Wikel needed just that. After working hard to go to college and earn a degree in accounting, Lynsy soon realized that she was on the wrong path. Not only did she choose to go back to school, she chose to uproot and move out of state for the first time ever.

Listen as Lynsy talks about her journey to higher education, leadership training and finding the Kiwanis organization.

She shares gems that she learned from her experience including:

            • Evolution comes from options.
            • Look back at your memories to watch the progression and watch the build.
            • Stay true to yourself and move away from the voice of others.
            • You can find Lynsy at Lynsyleads.com and if you are interested in Kiwanis and their AMPLIFY program you can click here.

            • Questions We Ask Ourselves When Considering a Shift

Considering a Life Shift? Career Change?

              Today I talk about

Questions to Ask Yourself  and Questions to Deal With

When we leave school, college, or university, often we have no idea what we really want. We choose a job or career based on what our parents, friends, or career advisors say, suggest or expect. We do the things that we “should” do because our parents have done it or our peers are doing it. Sometimes we go with “it’s just what you are supposed to do”.

Down the road, years on, (sometimes 20+ years later) we find ourselves in a mediocre situation, with a growing sense of disappointment and dissatisfaction about our situation, our work and our place in it. What do we do about it? Do we listen? Do we lean in and explore our options?

              What Do You Want?

If you want to change direction, at any age, the most important thing is to discover is what you really want out of life.

              ● What interests you?

              ● What fascinates you?

              ● What do you feel passionate about?

You will ask yourself these questions over and over:

If I change careers, will it make me enough money?

              What will others think?

What am I willing to give up to create something really incredible?

Will I be good enough to make it work?

The answers may not come overnight, but as long as you pursue what interests you, fascinates you, and makes you happy, you will find the answers that you seek. Beware of any criticism of your dreams and ideas from anyone you wouldn’t go to for sound advice.

Remember, someone telling you that you shouldn’t is often their admission that they couldn’t. Be relentless in your pursuit of happiness and fulfilment.

Go at it like your whole life depends on it. Because it does.

              From the publisher's feed

The word should can inspire us and it can hold us back. It can motivate and it can cause regret, anxiety and indecision.
