This week Tom & Zeus welcome Boston legendary radio hosts, Mistress Carrie & Mike Hsu to discuss KISS and Boston radio. Tom & Zeus were long time listeners of famed rock station WAAF in Boston and listened to both Mistress Carrie and Mike Hsu radio programs. After WAAF shockingly folded, they both ended up at the The Pike Worcester's Rock Station where they continue blasting killer rock, hard rock and metal music. They each host excellent podcasts on Pantheon Podcasts with Shout It Out Loudcast. Mistress Carrie and "The Mistress Carrie Podcast," which features awesome interviews, lifestyle topics and more and Mike Hsu with Long May You Young Podcast" a Neil Young podcast.

Mistress Carrie & Mike share stories about KISS and Boston radio, their radio scene knowledge about KISS' influence and reputation and also some never before heard, behind the scenes accounts about KISS. They also discuss the general rock radio scene past and present and add some perspective to hard rock music with some great insight and stories

This week Tom & Zeus review the 14th studio album from KISS, the 1987 keyboard heavy, "Crazy Nights." The album went platinum and was the highest charting KISS album in the 1980's landing at number 18 on the US Billboard charts.

This is the 2nd album featuring the lineup of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick. Although Kiss was not as popular as they were in the 1970's, this new non-makeup version was keeping pace with current hard rock trends.

Crazy Nights had two of three singles chart and the three videos for the singles all were on heavy rotation on MTV. The album has received a lot of negative feedback from the KISS Army due to the abundance of keyboards and synthesizers.

KISS brought in the highly sought Ron Nevison to produce the album. The band hoped Nevison's recent success would translate to KISS. Many of KISS' favorite outside songwriters returned as well, like Desmond Child, Diane Warren, Mitch Weissman and SIOL favorite, Adam Mitchell.

As usual the guys breakdown and analyze the tracks and rank the songs SIOL style. As always they then rank the album and the album cover against the previous KISS studio albums reviewed.

On the 2nd Episode of Shout It Out Loudcast's new sidecast, The Zeppelin Chronicles, our hosts, Tom & Zeus from Shout It Out Loudcast, SIOL's favorite nice guy Murph, along with Jay Scott from The Hook Rocks review Led Zeppelin's legendary 1969 second album, "Led Zeppelin II."

Led Zeppelin II opens with "Whole Lotta Love" and a new era of rock music was born. Guitarist Jimmy Page continues create some of the most iconic guitar riffs, while Robert Plant breaks out and creates his own identity and becomes the "Golden God!" John Paul Jones amazing bass playing and Hammond organ adds to the brilliance and the greatest rock drummer of all time, John Bonham continuous his groundbreaking style and dazzles throughout the album.

Led Zeppelin II quickly went to Number 1 in the United States and unseated the Beatles, Abbey Road, twice. The album sold 3 million albums in the first few months and is now certified 12X Platinum! It has been often credited as the first "heavy metal" album and one of the greatest and most influential rock album of all time.

The album is filled with legendary tracks like Whole Lotta Love, Thank You, Heartbreaker and more. Produced by Jimmy Page and engineered by legendary Producer Eddie Kramer, the album is filled with classic riffs, vocals and drums. The band continues its bluesy style but adds more original songs and a heavier sound.

The Zeppelin Chronicles breaks down Led Zeppelin II SIOL style. The guys discuss their connection with "Led Zeppelin II", the album cover, the background of the album and finally all of the songs. They will then rank the nine songs. They then rank the album and album cover against Led Zeppelin I.

This week Tom & Zeus discuss whether Poison's version of the legendary KISS classic, "Rock And Roll All Nite" is the worst cover song ever. In 1987 the movie Less Than Zero premiered and the Original Motion Soundtrack was a mixture of hard rock, hip hop and contemporary pop. The soundtrack was produced by legendary producer, Rick Rubin. The soundtrack album went gold and featured three singles. The Bangles, LL Cool J, Slayer, Public Enemy were some of the artists on the album. But the first single released from the album was a cover of Rock And Roll All Nite performed by the perennial punching bags of SIOL, Poison.

Tom and Zeus discuss this version, the good, the bad and the ugly. The song itself, whether it should have been done by Poison or by anyone else.

Another episode where strong opinions are given and a special appearance by Shaq and SIOL's favorite "handsome" team, the 1986 Celtics.

On the 30th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & Sonny review the 1991 album "Use Your Illusion II" by Guns N' Roses.

This was GNR's 4th studio album and was released simultaneously with Use Your Illusion I on September 17, 1991. This was a monumental moment in rock history as both albums shot straight to the top of charts. Use Your Illusion II debuted at Number 1 on the US Charts and would eventually go 7x Platinum.

Fans of GNR crowded record stores to buy the most anticipated album releases in years. Use Your Illusion II boasted songs that were familiar to their fans, like Civil War, You Could Be Mine and Knockin' On Heaven's Door.

The band had made some changes as well, adding keyboard player, Dizzy Reed to make it a 6 man unit and substituting Steven Adler (drugs) with Matt Sorum.

The album was a purposeful departure from their landmark debut, Appetite For Destruction. Songs became longer, more thought out lyrics and themes were explored in their songwriting, especially by Axl Rose. The album still boasted Slash's amazing guitar work which was a highlight on this album. Songs were also sung by Izzy & Duff as well. All the bandmates contributed songs and lyrics, which gave the album a great variety of music styles and influences.

This was Zeus' pick and he and Tom described how this album impacted Freshman year at Stonehill College for them both. Guns N' Roses is also the first band to have a second album on ARC, with the guys having reviewed Appetite For Destruction on the first episode of The Album Review Crew.

As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the cover against the previous 28 albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew.

It might take you 14 years to get through this episode, but don't cry because when you hear where someone ranks this album you will want them to Get In The Ring!!!

This week Tom & Zeus welcome notable songwriter Adam Mitchell who co-wrote 9 songs that made it onto KISS studio albums. Adam Mitchell met KISS through producer, Michael James Jackson. He then wrote songs for the KISS albums, Killers, Creatures Of The Night, Crazy Nights & Hot In The Shade.

All but one of his songs were written with Paul Stanley. He also wrote many songs with Gene Simmons that made it onto other artist albums. Adam, along with Bruce Kulick wrote every track with the late great Eric Carr for his Rockology album as well.

Adam discuss the all of his KISS songs he wrote with the band and shares many of his untold stories about Gene & Paul. He also discusses his immense fondness for Eric Carr and some truly touching moments. You also can't miss the true story about how Vinnie Vincent was introduced to KISS and Adam's role and his thoughts about Vinnie.

This is another unique interview with another talented person and their role in KISSTORY.
