AND ANOTHER ONE! - One of the cooler perks of a fight podcast is meeting all these cool fighters AND TODAY IS NO DIFFERENT! Jay and Chris got to sit down with one of Canada's slickest fighters with the coolest in fight smile you'll ever find - DEVAL GARVEY! Deval comes from K-West in Winnipeg and now resides in Calgary training at Dunamis Kickboxing and Muay Thai as of the last 12+ months. Deval is fresh off of a strong win at the Muay Thai World Cup 5 against another stand out fighter from Calgary - Jay Davis from WTM fitness. Deval tells up a little about his up bringing in Manitoba and what led him into combat sports and the difficulties trying to be a competitive combat athlete from that province. Looking forward, Deval lets us in on his future plans to fight professionally as well as which other Canuck's he would like to test his skills against inside the ring.

WE GOT A WEIRD ONE FOR YA TODAY!  we had another technical issue with our equipment which means another botched podcast - I don't work for Geek Squad so these things are bound to happen here and there, except this time it wasn't human error at least. NOTE - THE PODCAST IS LOUD TILL THE 3 MIN MARK! - my apologies. so after having to come to the acceptance that I lost a banging conversation for 2 hours with my partner in crime, I  grabbed a mic and headed to my car to do the podcast solo sitting in his sweat lodge/car! I apologize for Chris not being there as he had such a great perspective being in Jake Peacock's corner, next podcast!

I hope I don't bore you talking to myself in this one haha, But here is what I can tell you - I without a doubt have one of the more unique seats in the house where I get to see and hear everything right up against the ropes, getting sprayed with sweat and blood, seeing the intensity of the corners work, talking to the fighters right after war and even having the fighters walk straight towards me down the runway so I get a good long look at body language. So let me tell you about the MUAY THAI WORLD CUP from THAT perspective from main event down. in short - IT WAS ABSOLUTE FIRE!

Welcome back fight fans! it's awesome to have Chris back in the studio today! Jay has had fun rubbing elbows with some top notch fighters and coaches but nothing feels quite same as a Chris and Jay nerding out about fights podcast. We cover a ton of upcoming matchups as the combat world has been just a lil quiet as of late -  including the Muay Thai World Cup mega show happening July 23rd in Calgary. We also go over the newly announced second round of the Lightweight GP in OneFC as well as the Nong-O/Harrison world title fight. We do re cap the most recent UFC to send off international fight week with Israel Adesanya and Alex Vokanovski defending their titles as well as few fun math ups in the mix. We also get to touch on some boxing and discuss some big fights in the sweet science including the AJ/Usyk rematch, Canelo vs GGG and the always popular Ryan Garcia.

YES! Welcome back to podcast - In studio today we have Muay Thai World Cup CEO, multi time world champion and friend of the show Mr. Kieran Keddle! We are closing in on the Muay Thai World Cup July 23rd in Calgary, AB so we got to talk about some of the amazing matches announced so far and how they came about AS WELL AS A MATCH UP EXCLUSIVE ANNOUNCED. We also talk about the WBC Youth World Championships coming to Calgary August 16-18, this will be a 2 day muay thai extravaganza!! CAN'T WAIT! and the cluster headaches changing dates and venues brings. We also get a little behind the scenes and talk some politics in our sport of Muay Thai in Canada and what Coach K thinks needs to happen to see Muay Thai succeed and flourish in Canada as a whole. 

It is always awesome having Kieran in to talk fight sports, we get to ask questions and learn something new every podcast he's on. We have some BIG events right around the corner that Kieran is bringing to the city AND the country to help build and put Calgary and Canada on the fight map, SO SHOUT OUT TO YOU KIERAN!  

JAY IS ON THE ROAD FOR THIS ONE, heading up to Sherwood Park, Alberta I got to sit and chat with long time teammates and ABSOLUTE fighting machines!  - Tim "Lo Life" Lo and Derek "Honey badger" Jolivette. Just listening to these 2 men together you can tell they have spent years DAILY together training! Tim gives is his breakdown of the fight in China, head kicking people all over the world (Tim killed a guy!) to what had him seek out Derek as a training partner. Derek brings the fire with his criticism of the eastern vs western scene in muay thai, of course his awesome stories that go with his fights including the most recent fights from both men on the Muay Thai World Cup -  and for me personally, with the conclusion of the famous IMFA World Championship tournament recently in Abu Dhabi, I wanted to get in depth with these 2 as they both have a wealth of IFMA experience so I ask them what it takes to be successful at such an event.

These 2 cats were a real treat to have on the Podcast and always have an invite back on - SHOUT OUT TO YOU TWO CHAPS!

Jay and Chris are on the road for this one down in Medicine Hat for the FISTS OF FURY fight card hosted by S.A.C.A.  We were lucky enough to corner one of Canada's fasted rising stars on the Canadian scene to have a lil chat - QUINN WASYLAK! Quinn talks about his transition from being a bit of a hockey goon to Muay Thai, his quick rising through the ranking through fighting OFTEN (who knew that's how it works? haha) as well as what it's like working with his team of active fighters in the fighter and also coaching role. as well we talk the recent OneFC event with Tawanchai vs Lauresen and the UNREAL OneFC flyweight tournament, Quinn also gives us his TOP 3 answers and of course his and our Student SHOUTOUT!

AND ANOTHER ONE - Man, are we pushing out the content this week! Jay had the chance to sit down and talk to the WBC Super Featherweight Canadian Muay Thai Champion Mr. Aaron Wilson! we got to learn about his growing up and his background in Martial Arts coming from East/Central Canada and making his way out west, his Amateur and Pro-Am circuit competition days, a couple BIG opportunities down the pipe as well as dive into his WEALTH of knowledge about sport specific strength and conditioning. This was Jay's first time having a conversation with Aaron and he's hoping it wont be the last. it was a great, organic talk about our favorite thing - FIGHTING!! (nerds, haha).

Jay is the Dummy...... I had an AWESOME time sitting down with WBC Muay Thai Canadian champ Derek HONEY BADGER Jolivette for 2 HOURS!!! - except the little recorder machine ran out of batteries 1/2 way through the podcast just before Derek says "Hey, so can we talk about controversial $hit on here?" haha, sorta... I am hoping to hook up with Derek this week again to redeem myself! Derek has such a great mind for combat sports and such a passion that you can see it now start to rub off on his championship level students! We talk about his big fight in China, all his IFMA experiences and stories as well as tournaments around the US. Derek lets you in and is in the mind of an elite fighter in and out of the ring, it was a treat to sit and chat with my teammate and friend. SHOUT OUT TO YOU DEREK!

TEASER - the absolute second we get a chance to sit and chat I will ask Derek to re hash his opinion of the West vs East Canada Muay Thai scene, his loyalty to his trainers and the people doing him right, his recent title win on the MTWC and our Top3 (it was a good'r), student SHOUT OUT and out rapid SO's. this is fun one! cant wait to do it again.

LET'S HIT IT! - Jay and Chris are back, fresh off watching one of the most prestigious Muay Thai tournaments ever made - the Onefc flyweight World Grand Prix featuring the BIGGIST names in the division right now in Muay Thai including Rodtang, Jonathan Haggarty, Savvas Michael to name a few. As well on the same event we had the OneFC Featherweight and Strawweight world title fights which included both upsets and confusion, MAKE SURE YOU WATCH AND GIVE US YOUR OPINION! also - the man, myth and living legend of fighting ANDY SOUWER was in town for 2 seminars which Jay and Chris were lucky enough to attended, did we like it? we spend a few minutes on this episode giving our thoughts on the seminar, take a listen!
