  • EP 568: What is the Window of Tolerance?

When we’re feeling grounded in our lives at any given moment; when we feel stable and secure, yet flexible and adaptable, we are floating down what Dan Siegel calls The River of Well Being.

On the right bank of this river is chaos. On the left bank is rigidity.

In today’s episode, I talk about what this all means and why it matters:

I hope you enjoyed the video and I hope you get to try the practice I described!

  • EP 566: Construction vs Conduition

In any given moment, our consciousness is engaged one of two available modes: Construction or Conduition.

In conduition, we are open to our experience, taking in everything through our senses, inner sensations, thoughts and emotions, and in the feeling of being connected to the experience.

In construction, we are thinking, scheming, and figuring things out.

In today’s episode, I discuss these two modes and give some guidance on why it’s important to know which mode we are engaging in any given moment.

  • EP 563: Taking PART in Relationships

Interpersonal relationships are one of the most powerful factors involved in our well-being.

And, as my teacher Dan Siegel says with one of his amazing acronyms, every healthy relationship has the following PART: Presence, Attunement, Resonance, and Trust.

In today’s episode, I explain this fully and also talk about the importance of repairing any rupture to a relationship that happens in the absence of PART:

I also reminded you of a new and super affordable group coaching opportunity!

I would love to hear if you’re interested in joining us! Please let me know in an email to [email protected] or, if you prefer, just book some time so I can tell you all about it:

  • EP 562: The Art of Goal Setting

In mindfulness and compassion, as in life in general, it is very helpful to set attainable goals.

Attainable goals lead to confidence and momentum; unreasonable goals lead to shame and inertia.

In today’s episode, I talk about this:

And I also made the announcement of a new group coaching opportunity!

Starting in the very near future, I will be hosting a weekly group coaching session and I want to invite you to attend!

These sessions will be offered by donation and are open to all.

If you are interested, please email me at [email protected] to let me know and to receive more information.

  • EP 561: Traveling Without a Map: Ordeal or Adventure?

This morning, the thought came to me that, because I grew up in a home filled with abuse and lacking any kind of empathy or compassion, I have no mental model for what healthy family relationships look like.

    At first, this was terrifying.

But then, I realized that it could be really exciting instead!

Watch or listen to today’s episode to learn more:

And if you’re interested in a donation-based group coaching program, I have one in the works! Coaching can change your life in tremendous ways. I know from seeing it happen over and over with the many clients I’ve helped over the years.

If you’re interested in joining a group program, please let me know in an email: [email protected]

  • EP 560: When we're not 100%, acceptance is our best friend!

Let’s face it. Life doesn’t always cooperate with us and our plans. Right?

Today, for me, is a great example.

Last night, through no fault of my own or anyone else, I wound up sleeping less than four hours, far less than the seven hours my body requires.

So today I am a walking wreck.

And it would be easy for me to give in to the irritability and even anger I might experience today.

But instead, I choose to hold my physical sensation in my awareness, forgive myself, and allow myself to take it slowly and be flexible with people and circumstances.

It’s not how I want things to be.

But by accepting things in this way, I can avoid further suffering.

In today’s episode, I talk about this.

  • EP 559: How to Connect to Others For Our Own Well Being

When we connect to others, it is always an act of kindness and compassion that will benefit that person.

But did you know how that connection benefits you?
