Have you ever had a holiday season where you honestly feel like you are having MORE conflict and disagreements in your marriage during what is supposed to be the “happiest time of the year” than the rest of the year entirely? Or feeling so frustrated that the stress and constant hustle is not at all what you had hoped for this season to look like for your family, but it also just feels like it keeps repeating year after year?
In today’s episode, I am having my husband join me for this conversation and we are talking all about how we’ve handled the holidays over the years. Addressing marriage conflicts, how to get on the same page with communicating holiday expectations, and even the practicals of HOW we slow down amidst a season that feels like constantly hustle, hustle, hustle.
We’re also tackling the subject of gifts for kids, how to handle them, how to be intentional about them, and how to tackle them after the holidays are over. As we are approaching the busy holiday season, I thought this episode was a very timely one to answer a lot of the questions I’ve been getting on this topic recently and bring Mat into the conversation to share his perspective and what we’ve learned over the years! Have you ever felt like your schedule was all over the place and the most consistent thing in your days was actually the LACK of consistency?
I have totally been there (and actually still, no two days are exactly alike), but having a rhythm and flow to our days is a non-negotiable for us now that I’ve learned what I have and seen the difference it has made in not only my life, but my kids and husband as well. In today’s episode, we’re going to be talking specifically about WHY routines are so important for kids.
It’s easy to understand that having better routines would help us as busy moms to feel more balanced and intentional with our days overall, but many people don’t think about the impact it has on our kids (on both sides, whether we’re looking at intentional consistency or the flip side, chaos and unpredictability). Several months ago, I made a very difficult decision to leave social media. Which I’m sure you can imagine is very scary as a business owner who has built my previous 2 businesses primarily on social media.

You knew that new mom life would be full of really big high’s and also really hard challenges, but even though you prepared as much as you could, you’re still asking yourself is it really supposed to be THIS hard?
