A long, long time ago in a land far, far away from where I am now (but not too far from where I grew up), I was dating a guy and I just want to say he was not the right guy. In fact, it would have been really, really good if my parents had stepped in and said, "We are not going to allow this to happen.

Hey, what did I learn through this experience?  I thought I had all the answers -- don't we do that when we're young, especially? But even sometimes in our stepmom journey, we think, "I have all the answers and if they would just do what it is that I know that they quote unquote should do then things would be so much easier!"

 I was destined to fail in that relationship...and sometimes, in our stepmom journey, it feels like we are destined to fail. And I am here to tell you on today's Sacred Stepmama Shortie, we must believe despite the terrain that we are training in.

We must have faith. Get those Bibles journals, coffees and whatever else you might need to dive into God's Word today.

Becky Dozeman, a Licensed Social Worker and Therapist turned Life Coach, shares 5 steps to gaining control over the fight, flight, freeze response your amygdala is known for (in addition to highly entertaining detours loaded with Becky-isms).

• understanding how our internal narrative impacts judgment and overwhelm
• embracing the gift of your amygdala signifying that this moment means something

 Who is the Saboteur?  What if it's an inside job, Stepmom?  Self-sabotage is all too common! It's destructive, hindering, and reduces our influence in our families.

Sabotage begins in these major categories:

🔴Thinking – our lizard brains cling to what is familiar; they attempt to keep us safe.  To our brains, new = unsafe.  

🔴Fear – we don’t want to be rejected – again. Fear of intimacy, fear of failing, fear of all the negative "what ifs" can hold us back.

🔴Procrastination (or avoidance) you can argue it is a great short-term strategy, there's also a long-term impact, which is usually NOT something good.
