The Big Three are essential in your nutrition plan, but we all need a little more variety in our diets in the form of grains, dairy and fruit (to name a few). In this mini lesson we will talk about the other foods that may or may not work for you and tailor your nutritional approach. Maybe dairy makes you feel great, but it makes your friend feel sluggish and bloated. Nutrition isn’t one-size-fits-all! After this lesson, you should be able to:
Ask not what you can do for your food, but what your food can do for you! Food is powerful. Food can sharpen your cognitive function, energize you, build your muscles and prevent disease and aging. These powerful foods aren’t a mystery—we call them The Big Three and they are vegetables, healthful fat, and protein. After this lesson, you will understand The Big Three categories and why each one is essential to helping you feel and perform your best:
Now that you’ve gotten to know The Big Three it’s time to think about building your meals around them! In part two of the lesson we’ll put your knowledge into action with an example and learn some helpful tips around building a meal plan and meal prep.
When it comes to nutrition, we are usually taught that we must remove certain “bad” foods from our diet to lose weight or improve health. But this isn’t always true! This lesson is all about shifting this limiting belief (are you catching on to this mindset thing?) so you can finally feel in control with your diet and think about adding vs. subtracting. However, if you are able to push your skepticism to the side and open yourself to possibilities, you might find yourself with enough—and maybe even extra—time each day. After this lesson, you should be able to:
Thoughts, feelings and actions play a big role in your everyday life. When you have limiting thoughts such as “I'm not organized enough to plan ahead” or “I can’t cook because I’m not good with details”, you are telling yourself that you do not have the ability or capacity to stretch yourself, which isn’t true. After this lesson, you should be able to:
Thoughts cause feelings, and feelings cause actions. Or is it actions cause thoughts and thoughts cause feelings? The truth is, thoughts, feelings and actions are all interrelated and they are not linear. All too often we are a victim to our thoughts, especially when we are triggered by something or someone. After this lesson, you should be able to:
Do you know your ‘why’? We’re here to help you figure it out! Whether you know it or not, we all live by a set of values, but not all of us truly understand how these values can and should drive our decisions and goals like where we should spend our time and money. After this lesson, you should be able to:
