Nice second story in the series

Book two in the series picks up a few years after the first book. It is all about middle child Jake and his free flying lifestyle. Pair him up with meticulous Claire, who seems a touch OCD, and it is a dynamic opposites attract!

I loved Claire, she has a terrific back story and some fun surprises. I loved the dynamic with Jake, such fun banter. He does a great job of bringing her playful side to the forefront.

This is a mixed narrative, so you get both leads POV. This really helps you understand where they are coming from and the romance is fuller.

There is a bit of smexy here, a nice touch of detail but not nearly as hawt as an erotic read. Still, open bedroom door that heats things up considerably.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Wendy Rich Stetson, who is delightful. I enjoyed her pace and the energy she infuses into the read. She has a wonderful feel for the romance and characters. It is a great match and I hope to see her in the next book as well.

I loved the supporting cast here, another appearance from brash Lettie is a laugh riot. I was also surprised to find I want to get a romance for man eater Tracy, I hope that is her name gonna have to check it.

Hooked on this series

I loved the first book in this series, and HAD to go back for more. And, I'm definitely going back in for book 3. The characters are very likeable, down to earth, and real. And I love that they really think about their actions when getting into their relationship. Not everyone is so free and willing to have an intimate fling. And, while I can enjoy that story just as much, I do also relate to people who don't just feel comfortable jumping into a fling relationship that has no future, or doesn't appear to.

Light-hearted Christmas Romances (Based on review title alone, you'll probably know if you'll like this book or not)

I love the concept of âForever Christmasâ. The owners of the town's Christmas Tree farm have decided to retire. Four friends decide to pitch in, buy the farm, convert it to a tourist attraction, and begin a new phase of their respective and collective lives. Further, four talented authors divide the book into 4 separate tales, each telling the story from the perspective of one of the four lovely young women who took the leap of faith in themselves â and the four men that catch the eye of each one.

Each of the four stories can be read on its own, but the collection forms a united story that is more than the sum of its parts. Joanne Jaytanie's âChristmas Reflectionsâ and Angela Ford's âThe Christmas Wreathâ have close ties and even some rather direct interrelations between their tales. Their respective introductions are perhaps a little too overlapping â I wish that the âHey gang, let's put on a business!â had been rolled out into an independent introduction rather than being duplicated in both stories.

Really wish Goodreads and others would allow rating with half stars along with full stars. I keep going back and forth between 3 & 4 stars. It deserves more than 3 and yet I not sure i want to give it 4. I guess I will give it the 4 because there were no major flaws.

Angie was devastated that her fiancé had been killed in a plane accident, before she was able to tell him that he was to become a father. Having been called a gold digger by Justin Coopers family, among other things she felt no need to let them know either.

By a fluke Justin's identical twin brother Jordan Cooper saw her name on a web design. When he brought her web site he noticed a small child's head in a picture and hired a private investigator to find her. After learning she had a son and listed Justin as the father on the birth certificate, he seeks her out and tells her he wants her and her son Lucas to come live at the ranch, because it is what Justin would have wanted.

Both are attracted to each other and had been before the crash that had taken Justin's life. Both feel guilty and feel they helped set in motion actions that lead to the crash.

At times the story just seemed to drag a little to me. Loved the way the little boy "Lucas" was portrayed. Also loved that Angie was not a pushover and stood up for herself. But yet something just seemed lacking for me and I can't quite put my finger on it.

A great read by Elizabeth Lane

I've read a lot of Elizabeth Lane's books and the title grabbed me. I started out by not liking Jordan Cooper, he was to arrogant by far.

Angie Montoya had a lot of well deserved hatred toward him as well. It was the middle of the book before I started to warm up to him. He's a hero you love to hate and then love to love.

This was a good book. The way the characters interact was actually believable. The child's reaction to seeing someone who looks like his dead father were genuine. A very good book

Predictable but entertaining

Historical fantasy is not a genre with which I am very experienced, but I was just discussing it with someone on their Top Ten Tuesday post this week. After reading Arcana, I have concluded that I much prefer historical fantasy to futuristic. My favorite form of fantasy is magical realism, and perhaps thatâs why I liked Arcana more than some of the dystopian novels that Iâve tried to read.

While the mystery of who Wren would end up with was basically predictable as soon as Iâd met them both in the story, that in no way lessened the appeal of the hero. Not. At. All. Heâs the kind of hero whose intense gazes and low voice make even the most stoic of heroines a little weak in the kneesâ not to mention an easily-twitterpated reader ;) Speaking of heroines, Katherine/Wren is smart and sassy and refuses to be managed. Forced to cater to Societyâs expectations, she still manages to thwart them at every turn. Magical powers, notwithstanding.

Bottom Line: A new twist on the Edwardian era, Arcana combines history, romance, and fantasy with a dashing hero and a spirited heroine. Though most aspects of the story turn out as expected, this doesnât take away from the enjoyment of the read!

Reviewerâs Note: As I primarily review Christian fiction, I feel I should point out the following. While this is not a book written in the Christian fiction market, it is relatively clean with the exception of a (very) few instances of profanity and a couple of racier scenes that fade to black just before things get too descriptive.

This is an ok novel. However I am not fond of present tense and for this reason I gave it 4 stars.

There are some things that I do like about this book though. I like the fact that it is historical.

Some fantasy is ok.

Not for me

Wow, what did I just read? I...it was like reading someone who is on something or manic or something. It made no sense at times. It was odd. There were moments I enjoyed the story, enjoyed Ginger's snark, but the nonsense was discombobulating.

So Ginger doesn't like Christmas. She was born just after Christmas, has a Christmasy name, and she doesn't get why everyone is so festive this time of year. She has a big mouth and says super mean things about people she likes and cares for and they sometimes overhear her. And at the moment she is in a bit of a bind - she lost her job, she doesn't have a boyfriend, she is probably going to have to move home. She has a few thousand dollars in the bank, but that won't last long. Side note - Ginger makes it seem like her family is terrible and didn't care about her growing up and stuff, but then you find they are great and a normal family and all of her complaining about the holidays and how terrible they are didn't make sense...

Now this story was all over the place for me. As I said sometimes I really enjoyed how snarky Ginger was, but overall I had a hard time following the conversations and story as it went along. Like she had a date with a guy and the whole date was a mess. I was constantly like wait am I missing something? I kept re-reading the same paragraphs hoping that somehow I would be able to decode the secret manic language of this story. But I couldn't. I love Christmas stories, love Christmas magic, but this one made no sense!! Seriously. I don't know why there are so many amazing reviews for this one. I don't get it.

Did I enjoy this book: I did enjoy Ginger Krinkles. The awesome Gin at Ginâs Book Notes raved about this book, so I had to read it! (You can read her review here.) And I wasnât disappointed. It took me just over a day to read this book. I probably would have finished it in an afternoon had I not read it a few days before Christmas. (You know how it goes â so much to do, so little time!)

Ginger is rather snarky, sarcastic, and sometimes down on herself. She also needs a filter between her thoughts and her mouth. Some of her lines had me cracking up; others had me cringing. I wanted her to be happy. I wanted her to figure it out. At some points, I really didnât like Ginger, and I wanted to tell her to get over herself and move on. At other times, I was rooting for her and wanted her to find a way to stay in San Diego. I wanted to know more about her and the other characters in Ginger Krinkles. The supporting cast was quirky and interesting.

I thought the end was too abrupt. It was a good ending, happy, but it left me wanting more.

All in all, this was a fun Christmas read that had some great laughs.

Would I recommend it: Sure! Itâs a funny, quick Christmas read, but you have to like snark.

Okay, but didn't hook me

I wanted a short holiday read, so I grabbed this book. I liked the narration premise, it's light hearted, sarcastic, and written in a conversational, stream of consciousness style. However, it ended up feeling like a lot of build up with little pay off. We waited for a major change in the MC, but then didn't her to witness any significant reward.

Kaitlin Matures!

Yep, in this book Kaitlin and Sky both grow up a lot. And just when you think things are going to get settled, they get worse.

To me, this is the best book in the series, thus far. Why? Kaitlin has growing pains, but she doesn't have problems with Austin. And Austin is an awesome boyfriend. Better than ever before.

And Family Affairs is going to go through a lot in this book and it's going to have an interesting denouement.

a fun read, even for adults

This is the third in a series of books about a fictional teen tv and movie star and what it's like to be an "it girl." I am an adult who is reading these books along with her 14-year-old sister. I enjoy the books. After she read this one, my sister said she thinks it's the best of the three. I can agree with that. One thing I like is that, as opposed to adult-oriented "hollywood insider" novels, this one shows the perks and strains of being famous and what it's like to be on the inside of the Hollywood machine without throwing in the coarse sex details and the jaded pessimism that comes of living in an image-obsessed, self-oriented society.

So, I can recommend it. I give it five stars for being a success in its genre. It's a fun, non-challenging read that will make you appreciate being boring to the tabloids while making you wish you could get the spa visits and free gifts the celebrities get. It's fun.

Never Saw It Coming

Great book. There were so many surprises. Surprises with her career and surprises with her "real" life. So good. But, this was not the best of Jen's books.

Daughter loves this series!

My fourteen year old daughter received the first book in this series for Christmas and loved it. She has since downloaded the next two on my kindle. I had to wrestle it away from her to read my book. I am making her wait for the fourth book until our trip to Michigan, since she goes through them so fast. So, I would recommend any books for young adults that get them excited to read!

Enjoyed it!

I have really enjoyed reading this entire series. Well written and so relatable. Thank you for writing about military life and touching on things our families have to deal with. Our daughter is serving in the United States Air Force overseas currently. I am always skeptical when reading anything fictional that is about military because so many authors get it wrong. I can tell June Gray is close to or certainty familiar with military life and definitely proud of/thankful for those who serve. A must read series.

I was looking for something new to read about a year ago and found the book Disarm by June Gray... I was a military wife for 23 years so yeah I can relate to the characters in this series and was was hooked from the first page and couldn't wait for Arrest the next book in the series...needless to say I pre-ordered Surrender in June or July of last year. Surrender kept me on my toes from the beginning until the end. The story was sexy, sweet, and heart breaking at times where I found myself shedding a few tears but it was all worth it. Hey if your looking for a great read pick this one up.

Surrender was a fast paced story line that kept me on my edge wanting to know what happened next. I couldn't put it down! I have enjoyed June Gray's story lines and look forward to the next installment.

Loved it!

I was hooked on this book before it was even completed. One little teaser was all it took for me to start stalking this author! The book and Ms. Janey did not disappoint. The story was well thought out with engaging and lovable characters, both main and secondary, that had stories that grabbed you by the heart.

Bradley started out being bossy and distant with a secret to hide. He seen the error of his ways and Lucy helped him, you could say Lucy brought out the best in him and she wasnât above using blackmail to get the job done either.

Lucy was poor and barely surviving while trying to care for her daughter and mother. Then she met Bradley and he rocked her world and completely changed it.

This story was emotional at times. I laughed and cried with the characters. Their stories touched me and I hope they touch you too as you read about their lives, trials and tribulations.

I loved this book and I love this author and I recommend that everyone needs to read this.

I finished this book in one day,it was that good.I found this book when I was on the author's page desperately looking for Mate Part Three and pre-ordered it. I'm so glad I did because its the kind of book I usually prefer,just the right amount of drama and not too over the top. I loved,loved Bradley and Lucy was his perfect match.Please hurry with Mate 3 Ms Haze,sometimes we need a little walk on the dark side.

love and tragedy

Oh my gosh, this has everything a romance needs to be great. Passion, conflict, angst, and love. If you're wanting an emotional and satisfying read, this is it.

Sugar baby

When Lucy got pregnant at 17 her entire life changed, having to drop out of school seriousily droped her job prospects throughout the years so when one of her friends tells her about becoming a sugar baby she decides to check it out. Now 2 years later she broke rule number 1 "Don't fall in love" while she tries not to show her feelings he also starts acting weird and then she's really down the rabbit hole when he asks her a doozy of a question. As she navigates between her feelings and their new circumstances and Bradley's strange behavior is it possible for her to have a happily ever after?

Lucy is strong and smart everything she does is for her daughter and her family. Even her mother who doesn't appreciate her. I loved seeing her come into her own and the backbone she displays when dealing with those around her. Bradley is a bit on the mysterious side and I enjoyed seeing as he came out of his shell and let Lucy in.
