Exciting!
I went for a ride with this book.....AND DIDN'T WANY TO GET OFF! Loved it. Very exciting and I couldn't put it down!
Hurricane Regina
Definitely a strange read. Almost like Alice in Wonderland. I. Wonder if all his books are like this. It was a fast read.
So much here
No spoilers here...
To be blunt, I have to compare this book to sex. It was pleasurable, unique, something different than anything I've ever had before , but man, there were times when I would have preferred to slow down and really get everything out the moment I was in before I moved on to the next part. But in the end, I enjoyed the experience so much. Yeah, it was really good for me :)
I would have loved this story to slow down, give more details, let the characters develop more. It was all there, the characters, the events, the start, middle, end... but it lacked a true depth.
In truth, that is a little thing overall with this incredibly unique story.
What did I like best about Hurricane Regina? Well, I had NO IDEA what in the world could be coming next. Not one single idea what was to come. There wasn't a part where I knew what was about to happen. Most of the time, that's great in a book, to a degree, you want to know that you understand the characters and the situation enough to have a rough idea of what they are going to do. Here, however, it makes sense to not be able to figure it out.
It's hard to know what Regina's going to do, given... wait, I said no spoilers. Well, we'll say that there's no way for us to be able to know what she's going to do next, so we'll excuse the total unpredictability here, it fits perfectly.
And the ending was WAY out of left field, to boot.
So in short, this was a shorter read that may have benefited from being expanded on, the characters developed more, and the events detailed a bit more. But overall, way forgivable.
Would I recommend this book to anyone that wants a strange, twist on tradition, almost sci-fi almost philosophical type read.
Seriously?
Hurricane Regina reads like an over-long middle school writing assignment. Lots of imagination, little insight into how real people think and act. The characters have no character, and the plot moves from one random and improbable event to the next. If this was written by a 13 year old, it's first rate. Otherwise it's not worth the bother.
More of a philosophical book than a fantasy
I didn't really like this book much because I found the main characters to be too manipulative and the "heroine" was anything but. But it does beg the question- what would happen to you if you suddenly had the power of God in your hands? Could you fix things, destroy them, or go crazy in the process. Strange book....
