Hi everyone and welcome to the November edition of Sinfully Mixed Nights.

I really started to play with mixing in key and working on building energy a different way. Before I started to really follow the ‘logic’ of music and keys, it was more by feel. This track ‘felt’ this way to me and another track would ‘feel’ completely differently.

Then I’d figure out how all of these pieces would come together into a coherent story that I would be proud to play.

Now with mixing in key, it lends to a whole new way of doing things. Including something I didn’t every try before; shifting keys and building energy that way. I am still going with how a song ‘feels’ to me for what really bends my ear, but now I’ve given myself a lot more options in how I tell the story of my podcast.

Summer is not quite over yet, although the calendar will tell you otherwise. It’s still sunny, warm and just almost patio season, leading people to hope that winter is still a long way off.

This feeling lead to this month’s podcast of more tribal, percussion like vibes. I had a stash of tribal-esque tracks slowly building in my crates over the last 8 months and these are the tracks that came together to fit the bill.

I really like how it goes from more of an analog feel with guitar strings and warm vocals, to a digital touch, that’s a bit harder and cooler; just like the days vs nights at this time of year.
