  • Young Frankenstein

    Send a text

Katie and Bridget go live in a castle in Transylvania as they re-watch one of the OG parody films: Young Frankenstein! It's a movie all about Dr. Frankenstein (pronounced Franken-Schtein) who inherits his grandfathers castle and therefore means he immediately becomes obsessed with continuing grandpa's previous science experiments on reanimating dead people. He's not being crazy alone though - there's also Igor, the sassiest assistant you've ever seen, and Inga, the assistant who should really just worry about putting the candle BACK! Together they bring to life the Frankenstein monster, who might have an Abby-Normal brain, but he can also perform a Broadway style tap dance routine. Will the town of Transylvania learn to accept Dr. Frankenstein and his creation? Is Madeline's Kahn's character the BEST in the movie!? Released in 1974, it was directed by Mel Brooks who also co-wrote the script alongside the leading actor: Gene Wilder.

  • Halloweentown

Katie and Bridget become witches (not bitches) as they re-watch the Disney Channel Original Movie: Halloweentown! It's a movie all about how lying to your children about their spooky heritage will result in them running away, sneaking onto buses, and disrupting the townspeople's day to day lives with their human bullshit! Come along as we meet older sister Marnie, a girl who is like Katie in the sense that she loves the spoops and she's full of SASS; her brother Dylan, who sadly does not get electrocuted on a fence ala Jurassic Park in this movie; and younger sister Sophie, who is the strongest witch of them all and just give the girl a damn cookie already. They get swept up into Halloweentown shenanigans alongside their grandma (who really has the coolest bag ever) while trying to stop the evil dark force terrorizing the town. SPOILER ALERT: The terror is really chocolate bar - aka Kalabar! Will their family be able to hum the perfect harmony to defeat the evil? Is Luke really the worst 12 year felon there ever was!? Released in 1998, it most notably stars the late Debbie Reynolds herself!

  • Donnie Darko

Katie and Bridget get real emo as they re-watch the cult classic: Donnie Darko! It's a movie all about time travel, wormholes, science vs. religion, and how being a white teen boy SUCKS! IT'S JUST THE HARDEST THING EVER! Come along as we meet Donnie, an emotastic guy who maybe should have just given back the red scarf and we could have avoided this whole mess! He avoids death via airplane engine which at first seems great, until he then meets a creepy bunny named Frank - no relation to Greg the Bunny. Frank encourages Donnie to do some crazy things all while Donnie continues to have therapy with the worst therapist ever AND get a new girlfriend ala a Love Actually meet-cute. Will Donnie be able to figure out time travel and set things right in the world again? ... In Katie's opinion, NO. But according to the screenwriter, sure. Released in 2001, it stars a cast of characters including Jake Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Patrick Swayze, Drew Barrymore, and his first movie ever Seth Rogen.

  • Ghostbusters

Katie and Bridget sing the theme song out of sync while they re-watch the 80's classic: Ghostbusters! It's a movie all about parapsychologists (NOT Bill Pulman from Casper) who set out on a successful business endeavor catching ghosts in NYC. Come along as we meet Dr. Venkman, a man who's on a one way train to a sexual harassment lawsuit; Ray, a man who definitely has his priorities straight when it comes to ghosts but not when it comes to finances; and Egon, a guy who can actually cause his brain to go completely static - that's not easy! ...Oh yeah and then there's also Winston, who's obviously the coolest Ghostbuster. ANYWAY, the team faces off against Zuul (we're still not entirely sure who that is exactly) and Gozer, a David Bowie look-a-like who can BE WHATEVER IT WANTS TO BE! We've got crossing of streams, dickless men (seriously, this man has no dick!), and more in this spoopy 80's classic. Released in 1984, it stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts, and Ernie Hudson.

  • Thelma & Louise

Katie and Bridget drive off a cliff (but then bounce off rocks and float down the river ontop of their car - ala The Goofy Movie) as they re-watch the movie: Thelma & Louise! It's a movie all about two best friends, going on a trip they'll never forget, and committing lots of felonies/murder along the way! Come along as we meet Thelma, a woman who really needed more time in this movie to experiment with other dudes (seriously only TWO men in her entire lifetime!?), and Louise, a woman who like Katie has a serious fear of Texas. When Louise thwarts a rape and kills a man the women are thrust into that saying that Bridget didn't realize was a saying - on the lam. Along the way the two get to still have some sexy time, experience what it's like to rob a store, preach about the patriarchy, and blow up a truck! Honestly it sounds kind of great! Will Thelma & Louise get away from the police and go to Mexico to start a throuple with the cop? Does that biker bar need a serious Yelp review about all the rapists that go there!? Released in 1991, it stars Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis, Harvey Keitel, Christopher McDonald, Michael Madsen, and Brad Pitt.

  • The Faculty

Katie and Bridget spread alien conspiracy theories as they re-watch the movie: The Faculty! It's a movie featuring every actor ever (for real) in a sci-fi version of The Breakfast Club! Come along as we watch high schoolers try to survive a parasitic alien invasion that takes down the school's faculty. The aliens also may or may not be contributing to our planet's water crisis as a result - but we digress. Meet our angsty teens: Casey, a pre-Frodo who really needed Sam with him; Stokely, a lesbian who's not a lesbian but maybe should just be a lesbian - ya know?; Delilah, a bully/head cheerleader/newspaper editor/girlfriend/ex-girlfriend/way too many other things; Stan, a sad athlete who kind of just gets treated like crap by everyone; Zeke, a guy who needs a new haircut and a new name; and Marybeth, the new girl/obvious alien queen! Will the teens defeat the aliens with the power of 90's drugs? Does someone's head get ripped off and turn into tentacles!? Released in 1998, this movie features a star studded cast including: Elijah Wood, Clea DuVall, Jordana Brewster, Josh Hartnett, Piper Laurie,
Salma Hayek, Famke Janssen, Christopher McDonald, Bebe Neuwirth, Robert Patrick, Usher (NO REALLY!), and Jon Stewart.

  • Surf Ninjas

Katie and Bridget yell "Kwantsu dudes!" as they re-watch the movie: Surf Ninjas! It's a nostalgic family favorite that features two things the 90's loved: ninjas and surfing. Come along as we meet Johnny and Adam, two brothers who discover that they're the long lost princes of a place called Patusan - NOT the place with the porta potties! They get thrust into a wild adventure all under the watchful eye of Snacks/Stacks/Snatch/Zach/Zatch: their secret uncle, who has no qualms about blowing up entire houses for no reason or sinking rescue boats! Along the way they bring their friend Iggy, who can't surf or do ninja stuff but can make jokes; Johnny's future wife Ro-May, who very quickly is like LOL I OBJECT TO THIS ARRANGED MARRIAGE; and of course... Tone Loc, a cop who just decides to tag along because why the heck not! We've got destiny nonsense, Game Gears, punching through windows, and Leslie Nielsen - what more could you want!? Released in 1993 (#thebestyearformovies), it stars Ernie Reyes Jr., Ernie Reyes Sr., Rob Schneider, Tone Loc, and Leslie Nielsen.

It's a movie all about how no matter how different people may be, they can still find ways to get along... That is, 4 out of the 5 find ways to make out with each other while the nerd is left to not make out with anyone AND write everyone's essay! Come along as we meet the crew: Claire, a girl who really needs to learn more about the patriarchy so she doesn't end up dating her sexual assaulters(!!); Andrew, a jock who could have a promising career if he ever wanted to go on the show Dance Moms; Brian, a nerd who really should probably go to the hospital/get counseling/have anything else happen to him besides just being sent to detention (hello!?); Allison, a girl who could have really used Whoopie's help from Girl Interrupted; and Bender, a guy who should have just joined the drama club - things would have been so different for him! These 5 survive a full day of Saturday detention together while outsmarting and avoiding their dumb principal Richard DICK Vernon #showdicksomerespect. Released in 1985, it was written and directed by John Hughes and stars Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy, Judd Nelson, and Paul Gleason.

Oh yeah and there's also Ken, Ken, and of course, Ken - he only has a good day when Barbie says hi to him. There's also Allan, the unsung hero of this movie, who may or may not be all the members of NSYNC... Barbie and Ken team up to go to the real world to find the person playing with Barbie. On the way she discovers what its like to be emo while Ken discovers what it's like to be every worst date with a guy you've ever been on. Katie and Bridget slide into each other and one of them drops the ball (on purpose - or not!?) as they re-watch the 90's classic: A League of Their Own! It's a story all about the very first women's professional baseball league in America and how lots of people were into it! But only if the women also knew how to powder their nose on third base...!? Come along as we meet a huge cast of awesome characters: Dottie, a married woman who's the best at baseball but is kinda meh about it; her younger sister Kit, "she's as single as they come" and always feels like she's in Dottie's shadow; Marla Hooch - what a hitter!; Mae, who isn't afraid to go all the way; Doris, who may or may not be the unsung hero of this movie; and Jimmy Dugan, who gives the real talk about avoiding the clap. Together, these women hit, pitch, slide, throw, and catch their way into our hearts, especially when they sing that god damn song...
