Six, Over Par

Six, Over Par is back for year three. As the golf season proper edges ever nearer, Gav, Jon and MTC are joined by new recruit, Arron, to discuss the impending return of the Order of Merit.

There’s also the small matter of an upcoming trip to St Andrews for the opening major of the RACDG season, the MacKenzie Cup, where 64 Flockers will do battle over three rounds at the Home of Golf.

Who fancies their chances? Will the boys get lucky in the ballot for The Old Course? And when will Gav realise that 1215 isn’t a legit tee time? A cracking week in store!

The 2022 Order of Merit season is complete. Gav, Jon and MTC come together for one last time this year to chew over Finals Weekend at Belton Woods.

Josh Humbler also joins the pod - his 40 points was more than enough to comfortably hold off the competition and secure the second annual OoM title.

We also run through all of the weekend prize-winners and key talking points – the banana surplus, lingering fog, a missing dinner and a wooden spoon.

See you in 2023!

It’s the penultimate 6OP episode of the year! After six months of fierce competition, there is now less than a week to go until the 2022 Order of Merit concludes at Belton Woods.

Gav, Jon and MTC have a natter about the upcoming weekend, where there’s a small field, but a swelling prize haul.

We also hear about Jon’s defence of the final major of the RACDG season at The Shut, where MTC was also in attendance, unlike his golf game.

Another regular season of the Order of Merit has been and gone. Gav, Jon and MTC are joined by the incredibly consistent and deserving winner as they look ahead to the 35-man Finals Weekend at Belton Woods in November.

Away from the OoM, there’s the usual discussion around our respective golfing months, including a precis of the RACDG Cock of the North at Moortown and Alwoodley towards the end of September, and a brief chat about the upcoming final major of the season – The Shut.

As we enter the final month of the Order of Merit regular season, Gav, Jon and a history-making MTC discuss August results, along with their chances of making Finals Day and their wider performance this golfing season, with the usual stats and birdies updates sprinkled in.

In addition, there’s a brief look back to last month’s Southport Coast Links Championship, where the RACDG was represented by four Flockers in the race to Royal Birkdale.

As quickly as it arrived, the week has come to its conclusion. Tomorrow, the men will embark upon their sixth consecutive day of golf as we diverge towards Formby Ladies and Royal Birkdale.

With a bellyfull of bread and an earful of obscure 70s music, we take apart Hillside and create our definitive rankings as well as a brief preview of tomorrow's rounds and the competition as a whole.

Thanks for listening along this week. Please look out for future 6OP and RACDG content.

Day one is done and the men recap their visit to Southport and Ainsdale golf club. A mixed bag in terms of results but we review the course, what we thought of the holes and our own performance. We also look ahead to Hesketh, and answer the question how much chicken is too much chicken?

You can follow live scoring on this link (https://www.southportcoastchampionship.co.uk/competition.php?compid=3613) and keep an eye on how the flockers are fairing.

See you tomorrow for a round up of round two, and a preview of West Lancs for round three.

It's a special! 6OP's Jon and Gav are joined by RACDG captain Matt Wabe and Luxembourg Arron for a week long championship. In this preview, the men review their practice round at Formby, talk about their aspirations for the week and Gav found a quid.

We will have nightly reviews each evening this week as we report from Southport & Ainsdale, Hesketh, West Lancs and Hillside, on the quest to qualify for Royal Birkdale.

Can Wabe battle the grumps, the baldies battle the sun on their bonce and Arron battle the ghosts of last year to make it to the grand final? Follow along to find out.
