Six, Over Par episodes

June 23, 2021 Ep7 - The MacKenzie (Goswick GC & Bamburgh Castle)
6OP returns after a glorious few days in the North East competing for the first major of the year. Join Gav, Joe, Russ and Ben (eventually) for a full recap of the MacKenzie Cup at Goswick and Bamburgh Castle, where there were lifetime best rounds, birdies aplenty and some silverware for the silver fox.
In our most vulpine episode to date, we’re also joined by Sam Lowes Raby, the man behind Green Fox Golf Club and long-time leader at the MacK. He chats about his golf last week and brings us the latest on his clothing line.

With most of 6OP spread across the country achieving golfing greatness, Phil & Gav review the recent PLAYERS championship from Woodhall Spa, the month of May’s Order of Merit rounds, and find out what happened with the stick or twist dilemma from May.
There is also a preview of the next major just around the corner as we hear from chief organiser of this year’s Mackenzie, Jeff Wilson, as he talks North East golf at Goswick and the site of the latest Indiana Jones film, Bamburgh Castle.

May 18, 2021 Ep5 - Norfolk and good
Ep5 of the Six, Over Par podcast celebrates love. More specifically, the love between two aging men on a drizzly Saturday in North Norfolk and how it helped one of these men overcome the poor weather on an alien course to post his best ever round of golf. Powerful stuff.
There’s also a mid month debrief of both the RACDG Order of Merit and our own individual efforts, along with details of how to get involved in the betting tote for this weekend’s PLAYERS at Woodhall Spa. Enjoy!

May 06, 2021 Ep4 - Month end review (April)
The first month of the Order of Merit is in the books, albeit books littered with crossed out stableford scores, tears of frustration and angry red scribbles from the teacher.

This episode, we discuss who avoided detention and took home the prizes, chat about our own efforts to climb the leaderboard and preview the upcoming RACDG event at Woodhall Spa.

There’s even a little maths lesson to try and prevent a repeat of the shambolic scoring in April. What more could you want from a podcast?

April 26, 2021 Ep3 - Stoke Rochford GC
With Joe's return from abroad, we have a full house to discuss last week's twilight round at Stoke Rochford.

We'll also be hearing from Nathan Charlton, the star of the RACDG's recent day out at The Berkshire, as he discusses the strategy which led to him posting an 81 point day.

As usual, we'll have updates on the 6OP season-long challenges and assess the state of play going into the final week of the first month of the Order of Merit. Has Jon Birkby managed to hold onto his lead? No.....but listen anyway.

April 07, 2021 Ep2 - Cavendish Golf Club
This week, we recap the first official Six, Over Par day out over Easter at Cavendish Golf Club. It wasn’t a good Friday for most of us as we sought to kick off our RACDG Order of Merit campaign in style.
We also provide updates on our season-long targets and challenges, dig into the wider 116-man competition and speak to the early pacesetter and alignment stick aficionado, Jon Birkby, following his 42 point effort at Doncaster Golf Club.
He’s got some explaining to do.

March 26, 2021 Ep1 - Welcome to Six, Over Par
Join Six, Over Par as we discuss our upcoming golf season, our hopes, our goals and our challenges we set ourselves as we begin the inaugural RACDG Order of Merit competition.
We introduce the players, a little history of our golf society and a breakdown of all the statistical targets we intend to meet before our final, play off event of the season in October.
We revisit how the Order of Merit came to exists for the group, set the rules for engagement, the stakes at risk and begin the journey to find who will come out on top. Let battle commence!
