When Brent Draper entered the kitchen for the 2021 edition of Masterchef Australia, he dreamed of turning his passion for cooking into a new profession. Masterchef was meant to change the lives of him and his young family. Masterchef has changed his life for the better, but in ways Brent could never have imagined, before entering the Channel 10 cooking studios. The whole of Australia felt his pain when he put his hand up for help, and had to leave the show, as he was battling a debilitating bout of anxiety. The airing of this episode just so happened to be at the start of Mens Health Week, and before he knew it, Brent had, by accident, become the face of this movement. Brent's story between Masterchef ending, and where he is 3 months later is an inspiration, and we are absolutely honored to share an incredible insight, into a beautiful human being, as he shares with us the tower of strength his wife was, to his unbreakable bond with Masterchef judge Jock Zonfrillo, and everything in between.
Ben Murdock is a loving husband and father first and foremost, but after battling his own demons in 2017, and working hard on himself over the last few years, he noticed a void in his hometown of the Northern Beaches. There was nothing like th Mum’s Group's that existed, so he created the Northern Beaches Mens Facebook Group. A safe place for men to be vulnerable and ask for help and support. Or just to be listened to. Ben has some incredible stories about what he did to get out of his dark place, and also gives us an insight into being Browny’s next door to Browny!!
Jimmy Coleman started in the action sports world as a commentator in 1993. Since then, he has travelled the globe with the biggest events and best athletes on the planet, including the Winter and Summer X Games for the past 21 years, which has given him an incredible front row seat to some of the gnarliest moments in skate, BMX, FMX and snow history. If you have watched any of these sports and moments over the past 28 years, there is a good chance that Jimmy's voice stamp is on it. In 2016 he became one of the hosts for Nitro World Games, which is where the friendship between Jimmy and Browny formed. Like many in the live sports and entertainment industry, Jimmy's world was rocked by the Covid shut down of our industry. Jimmy put this time to good use though, not only starting his own baking business (this is not a joke), but dealing with some mental demons, which he had never properly dealt with. Jimmy was old school. Jimmy is now new school, and is going to be a leader in the action sports industry, when it comes to giving a voice to the mental health battles of many. His is a message of hope that there is better times out there, and that what is broken, can be fixed. Plenty of laughs, a few tears, but an all round great message from Jimmy, that Skip This is honored to share.
Browny and Luke find themselves in the weird position of doing this episode via Zoom, as work and personal life have made it difficult to catch up in person. But that’s no excuse, life is busy, check in with your mates, via text, via zoom, via a phone call or in person. Luke updates us on the little legend Heath, whilst Browny continues his crash course in becoming a father, giving his own female anatomy lesson on this weeks episode, as well as figuring out how much water a baby needs. It’s the final push for the Loop The Lake and Head Above Water fundraisers, so tune in to see how you can donate to both of these amazing causes (or head to the link in our bio on FB/Instagram :-)
