  • EP 17: A WILD WEEK OF DAY TRADING THE ASX

Last week saw just about everything in what was one of the wildest weeks I've experienced in my 2 and a bit years of day trading the ASX full-time. The moves were riSTONKulous, the volatility was neck breaking and the opportunities were plentiful... if you were good enough.

The first 4 days of the week were great, I traded my head off and by the end of each day my brain was mush, even throwing in a record winning day on Wednesday with a smidge under 12k. By Friday however things had gotten trickier, and I didn't adjust to the change in conditions, which saw me plunder into positions with the same audacity I displayed earlier in the week, but receiving a very different result as I went 0/8 and finished -5.9k to record my biggest ever losing day. 🎢

The week had just about everything and on this week's episode I walk you through my trades, my experience and how I tackled and thought about it all. Enjoy! 🚀

  • EP 16: I'LL NEVER FOLD, I ALWAYS CALL

"I'll never fold... I always call"

My good friend Tim aka Thomas aka Buddy Guy used to sing that as he placed his chips in the pot. You would be sweating bullets as you barrelled a 3 street bluff or even bombing it in with what you thought was the best of it, but he'd call behind gleefully singing his tune. It was one of the most beautiful and poetic things to witness at a poker table, but infuriating to go up against.

My buddy guy passed away last week and when I learned of his passing I knew my life would never be the same. He was someone I looked up to as a big brother figure, I admired and respected him, I sought his validation and respect... I love him very much.

Tim was a happy-go-lucky chap, incredibly charismatic and always wise. His support of me was unwavering, he was always there when I needed someone to talk to or bounce ideas off of, I was very lucky to call him my friend.

I will never forget his bravery, his resilience, his zest for life, and the outgoing characteristics that made him incredibly warm and approachable to everyone he met. I will miss him very much.

RIP Tommy, I love ya buddy <3

Ps. Quick shoutout to Jack for grabbin the Like That Tee, really appreciate your support... if anyone else is keen on grabbing one you can do so below.

  • EP 14: COULD I BE A GENIUS?

I recently started reading a book called Limitless by Jim Kwik, and although I'm only 1/3 of the way through, I felt inspired to share some of what I have learned so far. In this episode I chat about one of the core ideas of Jim's book, to unlimit ones self.

For the majority of my adult life I haven't pushed myself because I didn't think I was capable of pushing through my perceived limits. I never pushed myself physically because I wasn't a "gym guy", I never pushed myself intelectually cos I wasn't "hella smart" or "couldn't read very fast", I didn't strive for financial freedom cos I wasn't "good with money" and I haven't pushed myself as a musician because of the box that I had put myself in.

In the book Jim says "the ultimate adventure we are all on is to reveal and realize our fullest potential and inspire others to do the same". I absolutely love this quote, I love being gifted the opportunity to better myself everyday, and I love being in a position to potentially guide others to better themselves.

I also chat about a few things I got in the pipeline in terms of branching out the content tree in order to maximize growth in 2021.

  • EP 13: S'GAAARN (New Ruku, Em v Wayne, Bad Blood and Test Cricket)

Welcome to the first instalment of S'GAAARN, a name that will surely not stick. The phrase "S'GAAARN" is a popular bogan greeting and translates in English to "What's going on?".

I chat a little about some of the music that I been vibing of late, my little brothers newest tunes as well as the see-sawing affair that plays out every time I listen to a new Eminem or Lil Wayne track.

I also talk about some books... one that I just finished, one that I'm almost finished and some books that I just started reading. Then I do a little blabbering about cricket and how much I love it etc etc.

All the music mentioned in this Ep + a bunch more goodies included in my Savvy Selection playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2RJyDIBuRpIBm6gehQs3Sj?si=XeDJlERyR--JThanManK1w

  • EP 12: MY 2021 GOALS

“If you want something you've never had
You must be willing to do something you've never done.”

    ― Thomas Jefferson

I've never had real consistency in my life, I've never been great with decision making, I've never been super proud of my efforts and discipline over long stretches of time. In 2021 I plan to change that, and one of the main ways I plan to do so is by giving up alcohol and drugs for 12 months. Drugs won't be a problem as they weren't a big part of my life anyway, but alcohol has been a big part of my life since I turned 18. The casual drink over dinner or a quiet one after work, a Sunday session or a full blown night out in the city, a couple schooes while I watch some footy or just one to put me to sleep, drinking/mainly beer has always had a place in my life and I have given it that place.

In 2021 I wanna give that up, and I also wanna achieve some pretty amazing things for myself, all my goals and all the tools I plan to track them over the year ahead are discussed in Episode 12 of Slap Happy, I hope you enjoy.

  • EP 11: MY 2020 YEAR IN REVIEW

2020 was a year that everybody who lived through it will never ever forget. It brought out the absolute best and absolute worst in humans right across the globe as we fought for our health and freedom on so many fronts. It was a really heavy year for so many and there is still so much heaviness to unpack and unload, but hopefully we can begin to heal and grow as a united human race.

I wanted to put something together that gave a snapshot of how I saw the year, as well as how I tackled the year and what I managed to achieve/not achieve. I wanted to put something togther that someone could potentially learn from, but mainly as a way for me to catalogue my experience so that one day I might be able to reflect.

I hope that you enjoy Episode 11 of Slaaaaap Haaaaapy!!

  • EP 10: QUESTIONS... AND ATTEMPTED ANSWERS with NICK FABRIO

Welcome to Episode 10 of Slaaaaaap Haaaaaaaapyyyyyyyyy!!!

In this episode I sit down with Nick Fabrio aka Longhorn Capital to tackle a bunch of questions that have been pitched to us by the FinTwit community. We tackle a bunch of questions relating to getting started, tape reading, morning routine, focussing on stocks in play and we share our favourite ever trades.

Apologies in advance for the shotty camerawork, still ironing some of the tech out.

    Thanks for listening!

  • EP 9: RESPECTING YOUR CRAFT AND PROCESSES with NICK FABRIO

Nick Fabrio (@longhorncapital) is a well respected Australian ASX day trader, he also happens to be one of my best mates. He's been trading full time for roughly 5 years and has quickly built a reputation as an exceptional tape reader and one of the premier scalpers on the ASX. 2020 proved to be a bit of a breakout year for Nick as his trading and maturity toward the markets evolved to see him take the next step in his trading journey.

In this epsiode we chat about the evolution his trading has underwent this year, and we also talk about why it is always imporant to respect the market and your own processes, the rest of the time I spend cackling like a 12 year old girl while he makes marginally funny jokes.

Pretty excited for this one as Nick is my first ever guest!!! And the poddy just cracked 500 downloads!! Crazy stuff all round and thank you for the continued support!

  • EP 8: MY MORNING MANTRA AND AVOIDING HELL ON EARTH

Last weeks episode on my ASX trading journey was received really well, so I wanted to piggyback off of it to hone in on some of the stuff that really resonated with people.

I go into a little more detail around my "why" and what it is that I focus on in order to stay on task and achieve the things that are gonna bring the greatest life ROI for me. I also talk about the idea of hell on earth that I saw Jordan Peterson talk about and how it is a really powerful motivator and great thought experiment.

At the end of the EP I take on a few more questions from the Twitter gang that cover some more technical aspects but also some more philosophical and deeper questions.

I hope you enjoy Slaaaaap Haaaapy!!

About SLAP HAPPY

Hi I'm Savilian, a hip-hop artist based in Melbourne, Australia - this is a show about me and the things I find interesting.
