Sup gang - welcome back to Episode 32 of Slaaap Haaapy!!

I got to chat to one of my mentors and biggest inspirations this week on Slap Happy, a gentleman by the name of Isaac John aka Ice.

Isaac is a former professional rugby league player who played for the Warriors and the Panthers as well as representing NZ and Cook Islands at the international level. 4 years ago he started a clothing label called YKTR with his friends and professional rugby league players Corey Norman and James Segeyaro.

Now Ice and his team at YKTR and YKTR Sports are some of the most influential voices in the sports, content and clothing games in Australia and I had the pleasure of having a chat with him today. We had a great chat where we mainly dived in the topic of gratitude and unpacked how powerful and important it can be in keeping your head above water.

Sooo, things are good, NSW just wrapped up the series and I just finished a book by Russ called "It's All In Your Head" and boy did I love it!

The book is broken up into 3 parts, which I kinda butchered by referring to persistence as resilience, but for me it is fairly similar and the same idea applies. Russ talks about the 3 keys to success being delusion, persistence and gratitude. The book is such a good read and jam packed full of so much wisdom, I highly recommend.

This was a wild one indeed!!

I went to a casual show on a casual weeknight expecting to enjoy a casual drink with my friend while we watch some of the best hip-hop artists in the country do their thing... casually of course. This night would end up being anything but casual, as I was asked to join Seth and Pez on stage to embark in a bit of a freestyle.

The crowd went wild, I managed to not f**k up, we all had a laugh and I left that stage and night on the most incredible high. This is the story of how I jumped on stage with 2 of my idols and participated in one of Hip-Hops purest art forms.

Today's episode features a conversation with Jesse aka Jeswri, who is a very accomplished mural artist hailing from Sydney, but based firmly in Melbourne, where he owns and runs a brilliant gallery and studio with his wife Britt in the heart of one of Melbourne's creative epicentres of Collingwood.

Jesse is a friend of mine and a long time collaborator and it was an absolute pleasure to sit down with him and just kick it for a little bit. Our relationship spawned from an introduction by my brother David in 2014ish, but evolved through a mutual respect for each other's energy and creative prowess. Jeswri is a committed, honest and raw creative that is incredibly dedicated to his craft, for that and many other reasons I hold his art in a very high regard. I hope you enjoy our lil ramblings for Episode 28 of Slaaap Haaapy!
