Sliced Golf Podcast

Sliced is a little late this week and so was Casey Jarvis in capturing the Kenya Open, where Angel Ayora suffered another difficult Sunday. We discuss those two bright prospects before heading to LA to reflect on Jacob Bridgeman's narrow victory over Rory McIlroy and what his progress says about the current structure of the PGA Tour, which is reflected in the field for the Cognizant Classic. That and the SA Open are discussed in our trip around the world of golf, plus there's talk of Tiger's Masters prospects and Jon Rahm's DP World Tour fines saga and what that means for the Ryder Cup.

Anthony Kim's stunning comeback win in Australia features among our review of last week's golf, with Collin Morikawa's victory at Pebble Beach also covered in detail along with the also-rans: Scheffler, Fleetwood, and Mr Layup Sam Burns. There's a word on Charley Hull's mortgage and MJ Daffue's pronunication, before we breeze through news involving Henrik Stenson, Gary Player, Augusta, and Jordan Spieth. There's a preview of the DP World Tour's Kenya Open, a word on how much we both love Riviera and what it will demand, and then Tiger Woods gets a run-out in Highest Bidder.

Familiar faces won last week's events as Patrick Reed held firm in Qatar and Chris Gotterup capitalised on Hideki Matsuyama's driving woes to win in Phoenix. We're on hand to pick apart both, with a word too on Scheffler, Thorbjornsen, Hill and other nearly-men, before we get stuck into the big debates of the last few days: is The PLAYERS a major and should LIV have got a better deal from OWGR? There's plenty more to chew on, a bit of a South African theme, a word for our sponsors, and the usual Highest Bidder sign-off.

Justin Rose's imperious Torrey Pines performance has us, 40-something podcast hosts, waxing lyrical about a true legend of English and European golf. After that it's more DP World Tour drama as Calum Hill blows a big chance in Bahrain, an LPGA Tour farce, and why not everyone is happy about LIV Golf moving to 72 holes. We talk Patrick Reed's Race to Dubai hopes after his LIV exit and Reed is in action again this week in Doha, a course we both really like. That and more, and a word for our partners TRUE Linkswear, in your latest Monday episode.

Patrick Reed's Dubai domination kicks off this week's episode before we marvel at Scottie Scheffler's latest win, which saw him reach $100m in career earnings. LIV's latest signing and the debate that sparked is next along with our assessment of the fact that Reed is yet to re-sign with his high-profile team and what that could yet lead to. After that it's around the world of golf, as both main tours drop in grade for the Bahrain Championship and the Farmers Insurance Open, before a topical Highest Bidder, a few reminders, and a word for our partners TRUE Linkswear.

We kick off today's show with a recap of the Dubai Invitational, where Shane Lowry's double-bogey at the 72nd hole paved the way for a career-best win for Nacho Elvira. After discussing Lowry's record in the mix we're off to Hawaii for a Chris Gotterup hat-trick and Bob's broken putter, with our usual run through the other stuff taking in the KFT, TGL, and a big amateur event. Golf news is again LIV-themed with their media day not necessarily going to plan and Patrick Reed since declaring that the PGA Tour remains number one, while Bryson is threatening life as a content creator instead of a proper golfer. We also discuss this week's events in Dubai and California, which feature the two biggest names in the game in Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.

We're back less than 24 hours after our first TRUE-sponsored episode with a special bonus edition of Sliced, following Monday's confirmation that Brooks Koepka is back on the PGA Tour and will play the Farmers and Phoenix in the coming weeks. What does it mean for Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau? Will LIV Golf stump up the money the latter seems sure to demand or might they even pivot fully to their supposed global plans and go without him? And how will Koepka be received back on the PGA Tour? That plus Ben An's departure to a new team which has left one 2025 LIV player not too happy to have been cast aside.

Sliced begins with a special guest, Oli Wilson, and a special announcement, as TRUE linkswear become our first ever partners. After that giddy beginning we crack on with the usual spin through the world of golf, including Brooks Koepka's bid for a PGA Tour return, Elvis Smylie and Thomas Detry both joining LIV Golf, but Akshay Bhatia turning them down. There's more on Vijay Singh's 'controversial' use of a thing he earned by being great at golf, a Highest Bidder tour de force (Ben writes these), a warm welcome back to the DP World Tour in Dubai, and to the PGA Tour in Hawaii. But will it be there again next year? That and more, plus...

Sliced is back and we're sorry there's so much LIV Golf news to see us into 2026, following news of Brooks Koepka's departure (and that of Mito Pereira), and Bryson DeChambeau's demand for improvement from the league. We also talk about Rory McIlroy's appearance on Stick to Football, Luke Donald's interview in The Times, TGL line-up drama and personal injuries, before a good chunk of time is spent drafting our respective teams of 2026 DP World Tour winners.

We end our first year of Sliced with a Christmas (but not Christmas-themed) Q&A, including major predictions, our favourite winners, how we'd revamp the majors, who is going to win them in 2026, strokes-gained explained, and plenty more. It was that or an in-depth preview of the Tata Open, which we felt not even our most hardened of subscribers really needed.

Thanks from both of us for listening this year. If we could have one final Christmas gift from you, it would be a star rating (five, please), review, comment, share and/or subscribe.

🎄 Merry Christmas from Sliced 🎄
