A man goes missing in a small Scottish town. His mother, Mrs. T., is dissatisfied with the way the police have handled his disappearance and hounds her local PD until she is finally put in touch with Det. Roddy who promises to take a fresh look at the case. It turns out, Mrs. T's maternal instincts were right and her son didn’t just pack up and leave without a trace, without saying goodbye. Another Small Town episode from overseas.
The Detective:

Detective Roddy retired from Tayside Police in Scotland in 2014 after 33 years of service. He spent most of his career in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and at every rank, from Detective Constable to Detective Chief Superintendent. Tayside comprises 3 counties and has about 2000 officers and staff. Roddy started in Perth and Kinross, a county with a population of 175,000, where he lives. The county is predominantly rural comprising the small city of Perth, a number of market towns, good farmland, and good people. Since retiring, he has worked for the local council in Community Safety.

Two women are found gunned down inside their home, along with a couple of piles of empty bullet casings. Detectives discover that the victims were sisters and someone was not happy they had been living together. Lt. Joe Kenda is on the case.

Joe served as a Detective, Detective Sergeant, Detective Lieutenant, and finally Commander of the Major Crimes Unit, and achieved a solution rate of 92% of the 387 homicide cases assigned to him and his unit. Joe has a television series called "American Detective" that launched this year on discovery+ - season 1 is available to stream now. His previous show, ”Homicide Hunter”, ran for 9 seasons on ID.

Police get called to a seedy motel after reports of a fight. They find two women injured, one badly, as well as a group of men standing around videotaping the incident on their phones. As Det. Scott begins to investigate, he quickly realizes there is much more than meets the eye as he follows the evidence into a world of gangs and human trafficking.
Special Guest: Detective Scott:
Detective Scott has been in law enforcement for over 15 years. His assignments include patrol, the gang unit at his agency, and special victims’ crimes. He currently works narcotics at his agency, as well as working on a task force that helps federal agencies investigate international crime organizations. He has a Masters's Degree in communications and is an avid reader of nonfiction.

Detective David (Retired) served 10 years as a Scout in the U.S. Army, followed by 20 years in Law Enforcement starting as a former Patrol Officer and retiring as a Detective Lieutenant. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Forensic Psychology. While he was on active duty as a police officer he worked Patrol, SWAT, Criminal Investigations, Compliance and Internal Affairs Investigations, and also served as a Special Operations Commander. He currently supervises investigations for a large transportation company and is the father of three girls.

A graduate of Edinburgh University and The FBI Academy, his last role was as commander of a linked murder investigation, commonly known as The Worlds End Murders. He writes a regular "Inside Justice" column for The Scotsman newspaper and has authored several books, including "The Worlds End Murders: The Final Verdict" and a groundbreaking study of forensic science called "Ruxton: The First Modern Murder." He is currently working on a new book examining the sex industry. He lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Today we hear from our own Detective Dave as he investigates disturbing allegations of child abuse. Just as he prepares to take his suspect into custody, he learns the suspect has fled on a bus and has a 12-hour head start. Unable to make up the time and distance in pursuit of the suspect, himself, Dave is forced to rely on other agencies along the bus route to try and intercept the fugitive before he gets away for good.

A husband calls 911 to report that his wife is dead - drowned in the hot tub. Investigators are immediately suspicious when they notice injuries to the husband’s wrists. As evidence begins to mount, the victim’s well-heeled friends and neighbors push back at the idea that it could be murder. Because that’s something which happens to other people.
Special Guests: Sergeant David is a 30-year veteran of law enforcement. As a detective, he has lead investigations into murder, child abuse, robbery, narcotics, auto theft, burglary, and sexual assault. He has worked patrol, is currently the SWAT team commander, and is in charge of his agency’s detective bureau.

Lieutenant George has been in law enforcement for over 20 years. Before his recent promotion to Sergeant, he spent 12 years as a detective in the Violent Crimes Unit of his town’s police agency. George has been a member of SWAT for 17 years. He has also served on Bike Patrol and as a Field Training Officer.
