It's no secret that Portland is basically the Silicon Valley of Sneakers. Not only is it the home of Nike, but brands like Adidas and Under Armor have opened up shop there because it's a thriving hub for the athletic footwear industry, with a vibrant ecosystem of big brands, start-ups, contractors, headhunters and top talent.
Nestled in the middle of that scene is @IndexPortland, the city’s first sneaker consignment store located in Northwest Portland that specializes in re-selling rare shoes. They've got the pulse on everything from unreleased pairs and NBA/college player edition sneakers, to precious design samples from Nike and Adidas and other tough to find shoes you don't easily come across.
Index PDX was founded by Mike Nguyen and Terrance "Tee" Ricketts, 2 guys with a passion (or maybe obsession) with sneakers since their friendship started in 2nd grade. John and Jordan get the full story of how Mike and Tee hustled their way across rare finds on Craig's List and thrift shops, which they sold on Ebay. Plus, how reinvesting every penny into their business, eventually turned the Ebay store into Index Portland, the spot where athletes, celebs and sneakerheads from all over the world visit frequently.
