We're celebrating a belated birthday here on Sneople at the Movies this week! Ezra just got another year older and therefore we're letting them talk about whatever they want and what they want to talk about is the works of Sir Kenneth Charles Branagh. (Two of us didn't know his middle name and it did shock us, thanks for asking)

They talk a lot about his Shakespeare adaptions, of course, how could you not, but they also take a wander through why they enjoy what he does so much and what makes him a fave of the show. They talk about his brilliant performance in Wallander and how Othello lead to Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and they get a little weepy thinking about Henry V.

Not a single one of them has forgiven him for what he did to Emma Thompson though, because she is a BLESSING, KEN! AN INTERNATIONAL TREASURE! YOU FOOL!

Hello Beloved Listeners! You may have seen our tweets on the subject, but we split up our two part saga on vampires a little differently than originally planned. Worry not, Matty and Helena are finally here to lead you down the path towards the good long Dracula discussion that you were promised.

They spend more than half of the episode talking about what makes a good Dracula adaptation, what they think is missing from all the ones they've seen, and even a little bit about why they think nothing has quite satisfied their hunger yet. (I'll give you a hint - it involves homoerotic undertones).

They also discuss some of the vampire classics they missed last time, including The Lost Boys, What We Do in the Shadows, and Only Lovers Left Alive. Matty also tries to recall the plot of a vampire movie they partially saw at a Halloween party last year and Helena tells the tale of the first time she saw Interview with a Vampire.

The overall conclusion for both parts of the Vampire Extravaganza? Vampires: It's Whatever, Man.

Happy (almost) Halloween, beloved listeners! Matty has followed through on their many promises to talk about Fright Night (2012) for Halloween, so we have part one of a two parter on vampires!

In this half, Matty and Ezra skirt through a few favorites of the genre, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Being Human UK, the aforementioned Fright Night (2012), and Interview with a Vampire, which neither of them really remember but also cannot truly forget. They also discuss vampire mythos from a few non-cinematic sources and talk about what makes vampires really scary. In secondary news, they dive back into the Rotten Tomatoes Challenge as they begin to watch their way down their chosen actors filmography. It will only get worse from here, they realize in horror!

Also, they crack the code on why being a vampire is inherently gay. They did the math and it's just a fact, sorry.

Tighten your stays and straighten your cravats, beloved listeners, because this week on Sneople at the Movies it's all about the costume dramas!

The gang waxes poetic about pacing and attention to detail, claims romantic pining for the gays, and takes a couple of dubious dives down the rabbit hole of historical dress -- they also dissect who you're supposed to identify with in Upstairs Downstairs style dramas (Spoiler alert: it's not the people doing the ironing at midnight.)

They think about the hand flex from Pride and Prejudice (2005) a lot. You're also now thinking about the hand flex. We are all constantly thinking about the hand flex. You are welcome.

Fall is slowly approaching, beloved listeners, and you know what that means: Halloween! This week, Helena and Matty go on an introductory tour of horror in all it's gory glory.They talk about primary genres vs sub genres, ponder what makes horror so appealing, and lament the lack of werewolf movies in the genre. Helena also kills her co-host with a joke, but much like Michael Meyers and Jason Voorhees, Matty magically comes back from the dead so it's okay.

They also probably got some things wrong because somehow neither of them have seen Halloween yet, they're SORRY, they're doing their best out here. Both of them were too busy being terrified of Chucky to get around to seeing it yet.

It's time for some over-the-top and dubious sounding planning here on Sneople at the Movies, where this week they take on heist films!

They go through some of their faves of the genre, try and sort out why heists tend to have a homoerotic edge to them, and argue about if Shrek counts as a heist movie or not. (Matty still says that it does, thank you!) They also figure out the differences between a heist movie, a con movie, and a treasure hunting movie, and what makes them all so good.

They do talk about Ocean's 8 and Ocean's 11, don't worry. They are a queer movie podcast, after all.

This week on Sneople at the Movies, the Sneople take on a big part of any movie: Directors!

They absolutely dunk on Auteur Theory as the only form of movie critique, talk about their hits and misses of directors, and just regret the amount of their childhoods that was shaped by Tim Burton. Danny Elfman, we see you and we love you.

They also have an announcement about a new challenge they are undertaking in the name of the show! Rules and explanation are gone over and they'll be giving updates on it as it progresses both in the show and on their social media, which you can find @people_snake on twitter! This week, the Sneople are getting back to their roots with the return of the animated movies discussion that kicked off the show!

First of all, they cover the news from SDCC -- mostly Cats related (plot, why Cats is secretly like A Chorus Line, what's up with the noses, etc.).They also delve into The Lion King remake and what has really been bothering them about it and the future of animation. Don't worry about it being too negative though -- they also talk about the animated movies that have meant a lot to them and why they're great and Matty finally gets to talk about anime, including some recs for movies that are off the Disney path.

Note: You do not have to listen to the first episode to listen to this continued discussion! They are entirely separate conversations. Also, they are sorry that they talked about Cats for so long but there was just so much and it's just so much.

Saddle up, Sneople! It's time for westerns here at Sneople at the Movies, and we've got a lot of genre to deconstruct.

They cover a variety of westerns from television to books to (of course) film as well as from comedies to classics to dramas. They also cover the good, the bad, and the ugly of the genre: the things that make us yearn as well as all the harm western expansion (and glorifying it) has done. They also say a lot of mean things about John Wayne.

Finally, they crack the code and figure out why Mad Max: Fury Road and Logan are westerns. Just trust them, they know what they're talking about.
