HO HO HO HOW ABOUT THE BEST HOLIDAY GIFT OF ALL: A Very Gosling (your personal celebrated holiday)! We kick off the season with everyone's favorite movie that they saw the trailer for but didn't actually watch the movie: The Nice Guys! Yes! You kind of remember it and we ABSOLUTELY WATCHED IT! Should you watch it too? Tune in to find out! (but also yes)
Holland March (Ryan Gosling) is a down-on-his-luck private eye in 1977 Los Angeles. Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) is a hired enforcer who hurts people for a living. Fate turns them into unlikely partners after a young woman named Amelia (Margaret Qualley) mysteriously disappears. Healy and March soon learn the hard way that some dangerous people are also looking for Amelia. Their investigation takes them to dark places as anyone else who gets involved in the case seems to wind up dead.
FOLKS. You haven't seen this movie but we HAVE TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THAT MOVIE. This one is for us, okay? Like we did you the favor of watching this for you, the least you can do is let us tell you about it. This may be the tape from the ring.
A man (Orlando Seale) with a timepiece for a heart ignores warnings that he must never fall in love after he spies a beautiful singer (Samantha Barks).
I'm sorry. It doesn't come up in the episode. But Squarin mentioned Adam Brody as if he might not know who he was in this episode and I just can't not talk about it. The fact that that man is in this movie is unreal. BUT ALSO THIS IS A GREAT EPISODE. If you have seen the movie, you KNOW this is a good one. If you haven't I mean buckle up. You're top of the top here. Get ready to get learned.
WE'RE NOT OVER THE SPOOKIES OVER HERE. And we know you aren't either! This movie is ODD. As the description writer I feel confident telling you that you're gonna wanna listen to this one. Why? Cause listen... you're never gonna watch it. Why would you? But it's FASCINATING. You need the information and you need to tell your friends about this movie. So let us fill you in.
When horror novelist Sutter Cane (Jürgen Prochnow) goes missing, insurance investigator John Trent (Sam Neill) scrutinizes the claim made by his publisher, Jackson Harglow (Charlton Heston), and endeavors to retrieve a yet-to-be-released manuscript and ascertain the writer's whereabouts. Accompanied by the novelist's editor, Linda Styles (Julie Carmen), and disturbed by nightmares from reading Cane's other novels, Trent makes an eerie nighttime trek to a supernatural town in New Hampshire.
Listen we were all thinking that The Exorcist was good, but great? No. Classic? Of course not (I'm kidding please don't kill me). BUT THE THIRD RISES TO THAT OCCASION. I'm not saying you have to watch it. It's a whole damn movie. Who has time for that? What you need is a podcast, that tells you exactly why it's a great movie. And then you can your friends "yeah I've basically seen it" and they clap and you're the coolest person at the party. That's what we do. THAT'S WHAT WE DO FOR YOU. ALSO THANK YOU BUBS FOR COMING ON THE POD.

Police Lt. Kinderman (George C. Scott) notices similarities between his current murder investigation and the methods used by the "Gemini" killer (Brad Dourif) who was executed 15 years before. He soon discovers a hospitalized mental patient (Jason Miller) claiming to be the dead serial killer, but who looks uncannily like a priest Kinderman knew who died during an exorcism. As more bodies are found, Kinderman looks for connections between the two supposedly dead men.
Calling all barnacle encrusted, scurvy ridden, Lovecraftian horrors: This movie be for you. This week we watch the absolutely insane 2019 film The Lighthouse. You've heard of it. You may have even seen it. But regardless, we GOTTA talk about it.
Two lighthouse keepers try to maintain their sanity while living on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.
Sometimes a movie is so good that you don't even have to ask for it to be made. In fact, it can be so good that even when people say "we feel content!" it still just has to be made. This is that movie. However, without it, we would not have the iconic Vanilla Ice Ninja Turtle rap. For that, we are grateful and pay absolute respect to this timeless flawless film. We also do it with our resident turtle expert, Digibubs! DO NOT FORGET TO CHECK THEM OUT ON TWITCH. DO NOT.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Mark Caso, Michelan Sisti, Leif Tilden, Kenn Troum) again battle their archenemy, the rogue ninja Shredder (Francois Chau). Shredder attempts revenge by obtaining the same radioactive ooze that created the Turtles and unleashing two new monstrous mutants: Tokka, an oversized snapping turtle, and Rahzar, a fearsome wolf-like creature. When Shredder plans to use the remaining ooze on himself, the Turtles must harness their ninja fighting skills to stop him.
Are you like me and you've been wanting to watch this critically acclaimed movie with incredible cinematography but can't find an ounce of free time you'd actually like to dedicate to it? Or you keep forgetting it exists? GREAT NEWS. LISTEN TO THIS AND LET US CONVINCE YOU TO WATCH IT. Alternatively you'll get enough info from this podcast that you can lie to your friends about having seen it and just regurgitate the same fact we drop here but claim them having coming from watching the movie rather than your favorite podcast.
During World War I, two British soldiers -- Lance Cpl. Schofield and Lance Cpl. Blake -- receive seemingly impossible orders. In a race against time, they must cross over into enemy territory to deliver a message that could potentially save 1,600 of their fellow comrades -- including Blake's own brother.
Listen it was a DIFFERENT TIME. You wouldn't get it. Things were different back in the 80s. Were there horrific problem within literally every aspect of our social norms in America? Yes of course. Can it be displayed throughout this film? Absolutely of course. BUT THAT ASIDE THIS IS PRETTY DECENT MOVIE AND VAL KILMER IS HOT SO WE IMPLORE YOU TO LISTEN. Also at the end we play a few seconds of a Lorde song so that alone is worth it.
When science whiz Mitch Taylor (Gabe Jarret) arrives at Pacific Tech as a freshman, he's paired up with genius senior Chris Knight (Val Kilmer) to work on a laser project.
"When his face splits open and the butterfly...nectar... collector... appendage thing comes out of this head...?" If that doesn't convince you to listen to this episode then you have become too desensitized. This movie is absolute mania. I did not watch this movie and I did listen to the episode and let me tell you this one is a doozy. RUN DON'T WALK.
Hongo Takeshi awakens to discover he has been transformed into a cyborg; he takes on the evil organisation SHOCKER to protect all of mankind.
