So, What‘s the Problem? episodes

  • Coptember: Night Visions (1990)
Tysto returns for more police show hi-jinks as we talk about a thriller movie co-written and directed by one Wes Craven. Sadly, it's more Deadly Friend than A Nightmare on Elm Street Except, less fun. We discuss the cast, give the characters alternative names thanks to Youtube's Closed Captions and briefly talk about cheese. Contains strong language.

  • Coptember Microcops (1989)
In the third episode of Coptember, Martin begrudgingly returns to talk about Microcops. We talk about the poor script, the unusually crappy effects by Industrial Light & Magic and hey, it has "cops" in the title, so...

  • Coptember: Popeye Doyle (1986)
Tysto is back to chat about the second episode of our police theme month, the sequel to the French Connection movies, Popeye Doyle. It's actually not bad, well shot and acted but it's a bit of a slog. Let us know in the comments below or by email ([email protected]) what you think of the new format for longer pilots. Tryin' something new, here, people, gotta avoid that Baffled length again. End music- Axel Broke by Matt Harris.

  • Coptember: Turner and Hooch (1990)
It's the first episode of Coptember! That's right, we're dong a themed month! Because we have no shame! All September, it'll be cop shows and the first one is a sequel to a Tom Hanks movie but with Biff Tannen instead of the dude from Bosom Buddies. Anyway, Jim joins me to talk about this and we finish under half an hour so we try to stall for time to make it past 30 minutes. Do we succeed or do I just stick a long music sting at the end to make up time? Listen and find out. Contains one use of strong language because I really didn't want to edit it out.

  • Bonus- Evel Knievel Remastered
As a bonus episode, in the lead up to our big themed month in September, here is a re-edited edition of the Evel Knievel episode I recorded with Tysto over a year ago. It's tighter, it's shorter but it still has that badass theme tune at the end. Enjoy! Note: We both say this pilot is terrible (Tysto more so than me) but listening back, we don't actually hate it that much...

  • Super Nerds (2000)
Martin and Jimmy talk Super Nerds, a sit-com, that would have aired on Comedy Central, created by and starring Patton Oswalt and Brian Posehn. We really wanted to like this but... it's not very good. We discuss stuff like just how badly the female characters are written, comedy foreigners and where we first knew the cast from. And Spaced. We like that show.

  • Fringe (pilot commentary)
Tysto joins me to talk through the pilot episode to the JJ Abrams show, Fringe. It's a good show and we both enjoy revisiting its first episode. We talk about the cast, the team behind the scenes, how some characters aren't served well by the script(s) and give spoilers for future episodes. If you are listening without watching the show, sorry about the brief gaps. I can't edit those out or it wouldn't really be a commentary. Contains strong language.

  • Rewind (2013)
Martin returns! Remember Martin? I barely do but here he is to help me talk through the bland sci-fi "thriller" Rewind. We talk about many things including how similar this is to Timeless which just ended, after two seasons and a TV movie, last year. We also had the benefit of having access to the original script, so we talk about the changes to the third act. Enjoy! (contains mild language)

  • Dawson's Creek Pilot Commentary
As a bonus episode, Jen and I decided to record an audio commentary for the pilot to Dawson's Creek. Was it a mistake? Listen and see! We discuss the cast, the music, agree on our dislike of a main character and spoil later developments of the show. You can listen to it on its own or while the pilot plays. End music- Please Advise by Reed Mathis.

  • Infiltrator (1987)
Jim Cliff from the Fallacious Trump podcast returns to chat about the 1987 Scott Bakula sci-fi pilot Infiltrator. Bakula is sadly miscast here but we talk about Quantum Leap, occasionally, that was a great show. Enjoy! End music: Jack's Garage by Midnight North.
