Why Do We Dream?
Who needs to stream the latest Hollywood flicks? When you sleep at night, your brain splices both strange and familiar scenarios together to create the weirdest midnight movies ever. In other words: dreams.
But why do we have dreams — and what do they all mean? Experts don’t have a lot of concrete answers.
–
What causes dreams?
Why do people dream? It’s a question for the ages. There’s a lot that experts don’t know about why people dream and where dreams come from.
However, the prevailing theory is that dreaming helps you consolidate and analyze memories (like skills and habits) and likely serves as a “rehearsal” for various situations and challenges that one faces during the daytime.
–
We also know much — but not all — of what’s going on physiologically during dreams. Most dreaming occurs during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, which we cycle through periodically during the night. Sleep studies show our brainwaves are almost as active during REM cycles as they are when we’re awake.
–
Experts believe the brainstem generates REM sleep and the forebrain generates dreams. In fact, if the brainstem is injured, patients dream but don’t go into REM sleep. And if the forebrain is injured, patients go into REM sleep but don’t dream.
–
At the same time, we have far more to learn about what’s going on psychologically when we dream. For example, one study suggests that dreams stem more from your imagination (the memories, abstract thoughts and wishes pumped up from deep within your brain) than from perception (the vivid sensory experiences you collect in your forebrain).

Ask any pet owner what their pet means to them, and they’ll usually come up with the words love, companionship, loyalty, friendship. For many, they’re a valued member of the family, and for some of us, our only companion. Their unconditional acceptance of us, even when we forget to give them their breakfast or cut short their walk, is a source of great comfort. As well as the emotional benefits of keeping a pet, there are proven health benefits.
–
Owning a pet:
–
For some the bond is even more significant. The elderly look on their pet as a vital companion. When children have left home, a partner dies or moves out of home for specialist care, a pet will help to stave off feelings of loneliness, as well as provide comfort and the feeling of being needed.
–
Some dogs even can now detect and identify certain cancers with their amazing power of smell. A study conducted at the University of Minnesota of nearly 4,500 people found that cat owners were 40% less likely to suffer a fatal heart attack than people who didn’t have a cat.*
–
It’s really not surprising that the emotions of a pet owner around impending- or post-pet loss can be very intense and upsetting. It’s a reflection of the very great love and the deep bond that we have with our animal companions.

** What Is Love? **
Love has been a favored topic of philosophers, poets, writers, and scientists for generations, and different people and groups have often fought about its definition.
–
While most people agree that love implies strong feelings of affection, there are many disagreements about its precise meaning, and one person’s “I love you” might mean something quite different than another’s.
–
Ready to speak to someone about love, relationships, and commitment issues? Click here to search for a therapist near you today.
–
Some possible definitions of love include:
1) A willingness to prioritize another’s well-being or happiness above your own.
2) Extreme feelings of attachment, affection, and need.
3) Dramatic, sudden feelings of attraction and respect.
4) A fleeting emotion of care, affection, and like.
5) A choice to commit to helping, respecting, and caring for another, such as in marriage or when having a child.
(or some combination of the above emotions.)
–
There has been much debate about whether love is a choice, is something that is permanent or fleeting, and whether the love between family members and spouses is biologically programmed or culturally indoctrinated. Love may vary from person to person and culture to culture. Each of the debates about love may be accurate in some time and someplace. For example, in some instances, love may be a choice while in others it may feel uncontrollable.
–
Love is complex.
A mix of emotions, behaviors, and beliefs associated with strong feelings of affection, protectiveness, warmth, and respect for another person. Love can also be used to apply to non-human animals, to principles, and to religious beliefs. For example, a person might say he or she loves his or her dog, loves freedom, or loves God.

** 10 IT Troubleshooting Tips: Save Time and Frustration **
1. Observe – Review events leading up to the problem.
2. Check life support – Check if the device has power.
3. Restart – Restart the device if you have control of a restart command or button.
4. Save your work – Save your settings or configuration.
5. Reboot/Power Cycle – A simple power-off and reboot solves more problems than anything else.
If the problem is no access or communication, try rebooting the network.
6. Narrow it down – Think about specifically what is not working.
7. Be ready – Have all the details ready for when you call support.
8. Scan – Check if there can be other programs or elements in your environment causing the issue.
9. Research – Do some research with Google on the issue as there may be a simple cause or fix.
10. Question – Ask yourself if it is something that you may have done to cause the issue. Maybe there is a recommended practice you ignored.
–
What’s the alternative to doing your own basic troubleshooting? Sometimes it’s actually faster to just call. The tech may have seen the problem a hundred times before and knows exactly what to do. If you have an unlimited support contract, this may be the best approach.
–
Just don’t use a ticketing system to make idle threats of ‘I am going to return this thing and I want my money back because it don’t work’. Cause really support doesn’t want to hear it and you just sound like a whinny child.

What is All Saints Day?
–
All Saints’ Day is a Christian solemnity, or dignified remembrance, that celebrates the honor of all church saints, whether known or unknown. This holiday is also known as All Hallows’ Day, the Feast of All Saints, the Solemnity of All Saints, and Hallowmas.
–
There’s a yearly reminder of our connectedness as Christians to the church. It’s called “All Saints Day” and is commemorated every November 1st. Perhaps, you were taught to think of saints as statues in a church building. But the Bible teaches something completely different. Who is a saint? You are. That is, if you’re a follower of Jesus. God calls a “saint” those who trust in Christ alone for salvation.
–
All Saints Day, also known as All Hallows’ Day, or Hallowmas, is a Christian celebration in honor of all the saints from Christian history. In Western Christianity, it is observed on November 1st by the Roman Catholic Church, the Methodist Church, the Lutheran Church, and other Protestant denominations. The Eastern Orthodox Church and associated Eastern Catholic churches observe All Saints Day on the first Sunday following Pentecost.
–
Today don’t think about the Saints and think about other things that we discuss in this episode.

Halloween, celebrated annually on October 31, is one of the world’s oldest holidays. Although it’s derived from ancient festivals and religious rituals, Halloween is still widely celebrated today in a number of countries around the globe. In countries such as Ireland, Canada and the United States, traditions include costume parties, trick-or-treating, pranks and games. Versions of the holiday are celebrated elsewhere, too.

This is of course just an ‘Observation’ based on being out there and driving in traffic. Some will get bitter on the makes of cars/trucks/vehicles mentioned but there is a pattern. If you drive one of these makes look around and observe other drivers and make note of the vehicle make. Who knows…maybe you are one of the problem drivers and dont know it..?
–
In todays episode we share (based on our observations) the Top 3 Makes of vehicles driven by BAD drivers. More to come possibly on our next BDW marathon but in closing this weeks events here is out list. Some may be shocked while others may not be. Enjoy!
–
Still unconvinced? Google ‘These vehicle makes are usually driven by the WORST drivers’ for the stats and details. Not just us that observes this.

There are times when we have no choice but to entrust our fate to others. We pray the attending surgeon is having a good day. We hope the pilot squeezed in a nap before our red-eye flight. But it doesn’t take a triple-bypass or turbulence at 30,000 feet to be vitally dependent on the competence of people around us—it happens every time we get into a car.
–
Unlike our prosaic contribution to major surgeries and white-knuckle flights, road travel is a two-way street. A safe trip relies on our own performance, as well as the actions of faceless figures behind the wheels of all the other vehicles within striking distance.
–
Alert drivers not only minimize the likelihood of causing accidents, they often avert them by counteracting the reckless, impatient, or inattentive maneuvers of others.
–
Separated by a solid line and a few feet of compromise, personal cars and 10-tonne commercial transports speed past each from opposite directions. Each intersection is a new test, as aggressive—or oblivious—motorists push the limits with traffic signals and invoke dubious right-of-way privileges.
–
A second or two of inattention can be the difference between getting home safely and not getting home at all.

Drivers must never ignore traffic while they’re on the road. These signs tell you about traffic rules, hazards to expect, where you are, how to get to your destination, and where services are en route. Despite this, there are plenty of experienced drivers who don’t know what all the traffic signs mean. This article will tell you all about important traffic signs and their meanings.
–
There are rules about where you can drive, when, and how fast. These rules help keep traffic flow smooth and, thereby, drivers and their passengers safe. Road rules include how to get in and out of lanes, who has the right of way, and how to park. Traffic signs play an important role in informing you about these rules.
–
Unfortunately, there are some that feel they are ‘entitled’ and the laws and signs dont need to be followed by them. Well to help those out of their ignorance we are discussing this on todays show.
