Lacey welcomes Yseult and Hannah, the hosts of The Kinswomen, a podcast that cultivates conversations between white people and people of color about race. Yseult and Hannah are also both sober and we hear about their very different paths to how they got there. They talk about the benefits of learning to sit with discomfort and how it serves not only getting and remaining sober but also anti-racism work. They also talk about how they talk about their sobriety with the outside world.

Irina Gonzalez, a writer, podcaster, and Managing Editor of The Temper, speaks to Lacey about getting sober and dealing with mental health issues through the lens of being Latinx and first generation. They also talk about Irina's experience of being pregnant with her first kid during the pandemic and how her recovery helped her through it.

Lacey speaks to Khadi, the founder of Sober Black Girls Club, a non-profit organization that provides a wide range of support for Black Women experiencing addiction. They talk about how the trauma from racism can lead to addiction, why its so important for the Black community to have their own recovery spaces, and Khadi's own experience getting sober. They also talk about the joys (ha) of sober dating in NYC.

Nik celebrated his one year soberversary on September 1st so he and Lacey speak about how he got here; triggers and slips as well as what's worked. They also talk about Nik's ongoing contribution and relationship to the podcast.

Lacey talks rehabs with Arden O'Connor, an expert in addiction treatment and the founder and CEO of O'Connor Professional Group, a behavior health consulting company. They get into practical questions of how to narrow down your search for a rehab, sketchy red flags to look out for, interventions and sober living homes. Arden also talks about how she was inspired to create her company after her brother Chris' experience in multiple rehabs. Chris is well known from his podcast Dopey which he co-hosted with his rehab buddy Dave for two years before he tragically overdosed and died in July 2018.

Lacey speaks to Hanzi, a DJ and the founder of Reprieve, a sober dance party. They talk about Hanzi's transition from a DJ in active addiction to a happy and sober DJ. They also speak about getting comfortable with your body after you get sober, self love, and leaving it all on the dance floor. In this solo episode with Lacey, she talks about the disordered thinking she's had in regards to romantic partnerships and how this became a lot clearer once she got sober. She describes how she's embarking on a six month sabbatical of self discovery (which will include a very solitary pandemic winter) in order to re-orient her thinking so that it becomes more focused on her own desires instead of others'.

This week Lacey spoke to Brian Lady and Nick Robideau, a creative couple who have survived an experience of living with active addiction-Brian through meetings and Intensive Out-Patient, Nick through Al-Anon, and both with therapy. Nick is a playwright and wrote a play called Against the Flesh about his emotional experience of being in a relationship with someone with addiction.  They spoke with Lacey about the progression of their relationship, from Brian's use and Nick's response to it, to them eventually both seeking help. They also talk about the creative side of their story-about Nick's process of writing his play and Brian's response to reading it for the first time.

In this episode, Jen joins Lacey as a special co-host and they talk about their own experience making friends in recovery and give practical tips on how to make friends IRL and during COVID. They talk about how friendship can be a part of your spiritual practice and how uniquely fulfilling friendship made through recovery can be. They also go over how to be there for each other when things get difficult and how to protect yourself from people who may hurt your recovery.
