For some, getting into treatment is an essential part of the recovery journey.
In this week's episode, we speak with Dan O. from Philadelphia. As an Admissions Director for a national rehab, Dan helps potential clients and their families find the best facility for them to start the recovery.
Dan also shares his experience with us on how he got sober at just 19 years old! Getting sober young has been a journey in-and-of itself!
Part of getting sober is trying to mend the broken relationships after the havoc our addiction has caused them.
In the 3 part series, we will take a journey through different types of relationships: romantic, family and friends, and the relationship with self.
This week we explore the world of romance!
“Art is not a mirror held up to reality, but a hammer with which to shape it.” — Berthold Brecht
On this week’s episode, we talk with Louie C. from Philadelphia, PA about how he incorporates his passion for art into his program of recovery. Louie also gives us some insight on another topic that we’ll look to explore further in future episodes - what it’s like to be a person of color in recovery.

Relapse is part of our recovery - whether we’ve gone through it, know someone who’s gone through it, or fear the idea of it.
We were originally scheduled to speak on a different topic for this episode; however, we needed to pivot to a topic that showed up in our life this week.
This episode talks about the reality of relapse, and is especially dedicated to those who weren’t lucky enough to make it back.
In our first interview of the series, we take a walk down the yellow brick road with Cathy Avery, a transformational life coach, who has over 20 years of sobriety. Cathy shares a bit of her story and her experience with spirituality.
We talk about spirituality being an individualized experience, the difference between religion and spirituality, and how to incorporate spirituality into our programs and daily lives.
To connect with Cathy, visit her website at https://www.cathylifecoach.com.
No matter what program you belong to, if they hold meetings, they can be a great place to share what you’re going through, learn more about your program, create a fellowship, or simply just stay sober for another hour.
One good thing to come from the COVID-19 pandemic is the access to online meetings that allow us to make a meeting anytime, anywhere.
