In our 25th episode we explore a hugely important issue which was touched on all the way back in episode one, when we examined the role of social workers in disasters. To discuss the social work response to the climate crisis and environmental injustice, Andy McClenaghan is joined by Gerry Nosowska, Chair of BASW UK, Professor Lena Dominelli from the University of Stirling and Professor John Barry from Queen’s University Belfast.
Although the links may not be immediately apparent, the climate crisis is having, and will continue to exert a huge impact on the lives of many of the people social workers support. It’s these links, along with how social workers can respond, that inform the conversation, which was held a fortnight before the United Nations COP 26 Climate Change Conference.
