  1. Number 1: Collectors: Barf Bags, Bones & Banana Stickers

People collect some weird shit. Coins, cards, and stamps? Sure, we get it. But what about airline barf bags, banana stickers, bread clips, funeral cards, human hair, teeth, and questionable things in jars? This week, we dive into the strange world of collecting and try to figure out what makes someone look at an object everyone else would throw away and think, “Yep, I need 4,000 of those.” We get into some of the strangest real collections we could find, the surprisingly huge communities built around them, collectibles that are actually worth serious money, and the very fine line between being a dedicated collector and just being a hoarder with good organization. Plus, we play **Collector or Bullshit?** Can Brad, Brent, and Dave figure out which bizarre collecting hobbies are real and which ones we completely made up? From barf bags and hotel signs to bones, taxidermy, celebrity garbage, and banana stickers—apparently if something exists, somebody somewhere is collecting it. And the uncomfortable question of the week: **What weird shit do YOU collect?** Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. 2. Number 2: Episode 578: Beastie Boys: A Musical Masterpiece

On this episode of the Sofa King Podcast, we hit you with some def tracks and rap about the Beastie Boys. The core trio of Mike D, MCA, and Ad-Rock were a key ingredient to any party in the 80s. Then, they had a misstep with Paul’s Boutique and rebounded with a series of records that defined the sound track of the 90s. While they came to detest some of their earliest work (and their image as party bros), they evolved into some of the most talented musicians and hip hop artists of a generation. From License to Ill to Check Your Head and Ill Communication, their albums were a mix of styles, influences, samples, and instrumentals the likes of which nobody has done before or sense. In fact, some of their music almost sounds cliché since so many people stole their innovative style afterwards. Sadly, Adam Yauch (aka MCA) died in 2012, and the band agreed to never perform again. But they remain as popular as ever with a recent book release and a documentary directed by Spike Jonze. Their story is one of highs and lows. Through it, you see a group of best friends evolve into the musicians the world asked them to be. Don’t be a sucka MC. Give this one a listen. 3. Number 3: Would You Rather: Bad Choices, Dumb Arguments & Surprisingly Deep Questions

Sometimes you don't need a conspiracy, historical disaster, serial killer, or three hours of research to make a podcast. Sometimes you just need three friends, a microphone, and a bunch of questions with no good answers. This week, the Sofa King Podcast takes on Would You Rather. The questions start simple enough: money or freedom? Your dream house or dream car? Perfect memory or the ability to forget anything you want? Would you go back to 18 knowing everything you know today, or take $5 million right now? But as usual, things don't stay serious for very long. Before it's over, we're debating horse-sized ducks, armies of tiny horses, aggressive animals, embarrassing bodily functions, terrible superpowers, and a collection of scenarios that reveal way more about a person than they probably intended. And somewhere between all the stupidity, a few surprisingly good questions emerge. Would you rather have more money or more time? Be successful but never around, or have less and actually enjoy your life? Know exactly how your story ends, or live without knowing what's coming next? That's the weird thing about Would You Rather. Ask the right question and a stupid party game suddenly tells you a lot about the people answering it. There are no right answers this week—but there are definitely some wrong ones. Listen along, pick your answers before Brad, Brent, and Dave give theirs, and then let us know which decisions we completely screwed up. And send us your best Would You Rather questions. We may use them the next time we play. Listen. Learn. Laugh. Question everything. 4. Number 4: Episode 607: The Aztecs: A Sacrificed Society

On this episode of the world famous Sofa King Podcast, we travel back in time and look at the Aztec people. They were the largest empire in the history of Mesoamerica. They were famous for being amazing warriors, and they were equally famous for their religious sacrifice. You see, they thought the sun would only keep burning if it was fed blood, so sometimes they scarified 80,000 humans a year! This culture dominated their region in only fifty short years, and their advances in agriculture, art, and trade have never been rivaled. So what brought them down? How fast was their fall? Who was Montezuma, and did he really swear to get revenge? This one gets good and bloody! Listen, laugh, learn. 5. Number 5: Episode 606: Hindenburg Disaster: The Hubris and The Humanity

On this episode of the Sofa King Podcast, we discuss the fiery crash of the Hindenburg. Its last moments were made famous by the grainy black and white footage and the scream, “Oh the humanity!” The ship was very interesting before that, however. It was built in Germany and was almost immediately commandeered for Nazi propaganda. It was even named after the guy who made Hitler the chancellor. After it flew around Germany to pump up the father land, it became a luxurious way for the elite to cross the Atlantic. It made ten flights to New Jersey in its first year and was ready to do more when disaster struck. It exploded on landing. Some say it was sabotage and even have a suspect. Others think it was because, you know, it was a giant cotton sack filled with explosive death gasses. We’ll let you be the judge.
