There is a good chance we all know someone who has identified as an “empath.” In this weeks episode we discuss what it actually means to be an empath and all of the pros and cons that come with it.

The definition of an empath is someone who takes on the emotions of not only themselves but other people that they come in contact with. Empaths are hypersensitive to the energies in the room, and often times will take on the emotional burdens of those who they interact with or even those they are just physically around.

As two empaths ourselves we have been dealing with the constant flood of emotions from ourselves and other people around us our whole lives. 

In 2022 it is considered trendy to identify as an empath. Often times you’ll see it listed in individuals social media bios or they’ll use it as a personality descriptor. Now, we are not suggesting that everyone who identifies as such is lying. But, it’s important to note that being an empath isn’t an easy task. The emotions can become so intense that it can even cause physical illness.

If you identify as an empath, I’m sure that you will find some of the experiences we talk about in this episode relatable. If not, be aware that some people are more emotionally sensitive than others if you aren’t already.

The Internet is a wild place, and nobody is safe. In this episode, we discuss why having self-love is important because when you love yourself, no comment made by anyone will affect you. 

Unfortunately, in this day and age people feel comfortable hiding behind social media accounts to insult and belittle others. You can see it on every social media platform. And even the most beautiful, kind, considerate people can fall victim to online hate. We discuss why it’s important to be aware of this if you want to get into online work. And why self-love will carry you so far in life, whether or not you’re working in social media. 

To end this off we want to thank everybody who has supported us so far on our journey. But, we also want to thank all of the haters leaving negative comments. Because, at the end of the day all press is good press and we’re just going to keep on moving forward anyway.

We have a treat for you all this week! Our lovely friend (and fellow water sign) Becca joins us on episode 6 to talk about her transition from an event photographer to a holistic practitioner and RMT. Through this journey Becca has embraced the part of her that is interested and gifted in sharing her spiritual and intuitive self. 

We have seen so many individuals go through a period of self reflection and transition during COVID. A lot of us had time to really sit with ourselves and embrace our true potential and embark down a new path that speaks more to our souls. Becca’s journey moves in a similar way, though it started to take place before COVID. 

Through our conversation with Becca we dive into topics such as how your Saturn return can impact your career and life path, how spiritual and "intuitively inclined" people are often stigmatized, and how fulfilling and important It is to be true to yourself and your calling.

Being intuitive is part of the human experience. Through this episode with Becca we really stress the importance of living your life solely for you and listening to your gut- because that is your higher self speaking to you.

This week we decided to do something a little different and review the documentary “The Tinder Swindler”. 

*For those who haven’t seen It, there will be spoilers!

This documentary came at such a good time, since it summarizes everything we have been talking about in regards to dating over the last couple of episodes. 

Though this is an obvious extreme case, The Tinder Swindler aka. Simon Leviev demonstrates acts of love bombing, future faking and emotional manipulation.

Through the episode we discuss how Simon went about manipulating women, and why we believe he was successful at what he did. We also go over his birth chart and break down the placements that we feel contribute to why and how he is a fraud and a criminal. 

Time and time again we see women’s nurturing behaviour being taken advantage of. In this case, not only was Simon targeting women, but he was also targeting seemingly secure women- who were not only attractive but successful in many areas of their lives. Why are secure women still falling victim to men that can’t follow through or meet expectations? We discuss this again using The Tinder Swindler as the ultimate example of how fuck boy behaviour and a wild ego can cause so much damage.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

In this weeks episode of Sofie and Dana we decided to dive deeper into the topic of love bombing and future faking. We have touched upon these subjects before, but we decided since it is such a Epidemic that is affecting so many of us, we wanted to break it down more to spread awareness. 

Today, we talk through what it is to future fake and to love bomb. We also explore the psychology behind why this is happening, and why it seems to be happening to millennials in particular. The dating world is very difficult to navigate on its own, and now on top of that, we’re dealing with false promises. When it comes to dating, we are trying to remain optimistic despite this ongoing concept. Happy Monday! In this week's episode we discuss something that effects all of us: TIME! 

We live in a world that revolves around time. Time wasted, time heals all wounds, running out of time and I need more time. We hear all of these things said on a consistent basis, but what does this all mean? Today, we discuss how time isn't real and how we as people have created our own restrictions and timelines. 

We also discuss how time fits into manifestation practices, how time changes the way we look at our own lives and the world around us, and how being in the present is the path to acceptance and happiness. 

Time can be limiting if we allow it to be. We encourage you all to look at time as something that is ambiguous rather than limiting. Remember that the universe is conspiring for you and not against you. Let go of your timelines and allow life to unfold for you.

Strap in for this one cause we are ready to start some beef! As Canadians, we’ve heard the stereotype that we are “polite and kind people” but in this episode we’re about to explore why that might not be entirely true. ESPECIALLY when it comes to dating. Both Sofie and Dana have dated in Canada and other places around the world and we’ve officially arrived at a point where it’s been established that Canadian men suck and Toronto men are on a whole other level of terrible. In this episode, Sofie and Dana review a growing Canadian podcast titled “Pillow Talk with Ryan ” where sex and dating is the topic of conversation through the lens of Toronto men.
