This meditation is inspired by Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and Alan Gordon’s book The Way Out. PRT helps retrain the brain’s response to certain forms of chronic pain by approaching sensations with safety rather than fear.
This practice is best used when you're experiencing mild, manageable pain or sensations. Approach it lightly—with openness, ease, and curiosity rather than trying to control the pain or force it to disappear. The intention is simply to notice what you feel while gently reminding your brain and nervous system that you are safe.
For a deeper understanding of PRT and how to practice it, I highly recommend reading Alan Gordon’s The Way Out.
