The 164 th Army Infantry Regiment was an activated regiment of the North Dakota National Guard. In 1917, they spent Christmas at Winchester, England. Meanwhile, the 116 th Engineers, comprised mostly of segments of the dismantled Second North Dakota Regiment, had their Christmas dinner in France, one step closer to the front lines.
