The stresses and strains of modern life. The intuitive human urge to search for something ‘greater than us’, that leads us to yoga
Arogya Yog by BKS Iyengar, while not as popular as some of the other books by Mr. Iyengar, is a unique practical resource book for asana practitioners. Light on Yoga is most known for the masterful visual presentation of all the asanas from the simple to the complex. Arogya Yoga, on the other hand, covers only the basic asanas (and pranayama techniques). It is annotated with simple line sketches, but has detailed instructions for these asanas. Mr. Iyengar’s unique insights into the asanas makes this beginner-friendly book, profound.
We are doing an audio recording of this book so the detailed instructions can be followed while practicing the asanas.
This is the audio recording of the preface of the book.
Recitation of the 108 names of Patanjali by the students of the practice room in February 2023. Led by shri Ramanujacharya at the Patanjali temple in Bellur.
The 30th chapter of the book Light on Pranayama is titled Savasana(Relaxation). This is a reading of that chapter. We have broken up the reading into 2 parts. This 2nd part details the adjustments in Savasana, adaptations, precautions, watch-outs, as well as effects. Although it can be listened to at any time (and the chapter in the book can be read and re-read), we recorded this segment specifically to practice as a follow-along session. The practitioner is encouraged to find a clean and quiet space, and set aside half an hour for this. The first part of the chapter is recorded separately, and can be listened to at any time.
The book has many detailed close-up images of various parts of the body as Mr. Iyengar positions himself in Savasana. The following is a link to a very short video of getting into Savasana that may be used as a quick reference.

This session was recorded as the first part of an audio-video hybrid session,
We often think of 'improving' the breath by 'expanding' or 'lengthening' it. However, the breath should be trained to traverse the entire spectrum. The arm and leg binding positions in this sessions try to demonstrate this spectrum. The 'binding' positions of asanas offer a unique opportunity to study the 'breathing' potential even in compressed positions. This session (along with the accompanying audio session, focusses on 'narrowing' the breath channel, to drive it deeper inside.

While specific positions and prop arrangements might be suggested in the audio sessions, we have short demonstrations of many compatible positions at the following link:
