“At my death, whether it be a natural death or otherwise, I want my body to be given to some scientific institution to be used as they see fit, but especially to see if someone can find out why I committed the crimes I have committed. I can’t understand it, for I had no reason whatsoever. There is definitely something wrong. Can’t someone find it and save someone else the agony I have been through.” 

These words were written on a note tucked in a bible belonging to Rhonda Belle Martin. The bible had been taken from her cold dead hands as she sat slumped in the Alabama Electric chair in 1957. Rhonda was being executed for murdering her fourth husband, Claude C. Martin, but the innocent looking 50 something year old lady openly admitted to killing all three of her daughters, two of her husbands, and her mother.

Sleep paralysis. 

It is a terrifying condition that can happen to anyone.  

You are aware of what’s going on around you but unable to move or speak. Which is frightening in itself, but often the person experiencing the paralysis is also dealing with terrifying visual and audible hallucinations in a sense, their nightmare comes to life and they can’t do anything about it. 

In the South, sleep paralysis is attributed to one creature who makes their home down in the bayous of Louisiana.

Two Houston police officers got way more than they bargained for when responding to a welfare check call on June 23, 1965.  The owners of the home at 1815 Driscoll Street were nowhere to be found as police kicked their door in and searched the house. 

One of the officers felt the need to open the refrigerator, and it’s a good thing he did, because that’s where they found the homeowners Fred and Edwina Rogers in a case that has come to be known as the Ice Box Murders.
