A linear power supply of the stand-by type, used in alarm and video monitoring systems. The LM317 in a typical voltage regulator configuration, a current limiting resistor and discharge diode for the battery, and some state indication - that's all! A very simple and nice module.
Sorry for the abysmal lighting here and camera losing focus all the time. It's out-of-the-lab field setting where I have to improvise a lot more than I normally do.

Just got one from a local electronic parts shop! Brand new in a box, and it even has a warranty ticket. What am I gonna do with it? Not sure... but it's a nice addition to my collection.

Joan Lambert, the navigator on Nostromo and the penultimate surviving character in Alien, was recently hailed as an example of trans representation: https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2021/02/04/alien-trans-character-joan-lambert-veronica-cartwright/
She had a bottom surgery in a very early age, but does it mean she was trans? She definitely would be if she had it at some point in her life as one of the steps in her transition, but getting one right after birth means that either the parents wanted a child of different gender, or she was intersex, had a "normalizing" surgery and was coercively assigned female at birth. This is still done today, and no one except for intersex people's rights activists seems to give a shit...
Congrats @NASA on the Artemis launch - we're getting there. Again!

An old video (definitely 2021; see me with no bangs and no funky knife?) that got posted on my deadname channel rather than this one. Another surprise record unboxing, this time it's good old David Bowie. Ch-ch-changes!
No real deal mike, all recorded with a mobile over the workbench. Oh, and the SN34/1 stereo amp I was building back then.

Back with a vengeance! No amount of harmonic distortion will stop me from doing that stream. So, let's have some action with the Tektronix and some other stuff...

This lovely deck is feature rich, with 3 heads, bias adjustment, Dolby HX Pro. It was made in the early '90s in Japan. Also, it has a linear tape counter, which got me curious how that's done (referring to @vwestlife episode on tape counters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cy032-eB2I) but since I was not taking the mechanism out, I didn't figure out the sensor type and its placement.

Showing you some interesting stuff and experiments that wouldn't make their own episodes, ranting about shitty products.

Don't mind the beeping. It's just my oscilloscope that has its quirks, it's not THE BOMB (I'm not doing a collab with EEVBlog on that AtEx leakage sensor, ha!).
To conclude, these transformers won't go over midrange, which disqualifies them in their current form. It may be because the impedance rises dramatically with frequency and 5k is where it begins. The leakage inductance lowers the transformer's frequency response and it apparently is a problem here, with the split spool and gaps in the core.

I'm not the only one, but are others even named after my namesakes?
