Showing you some '50s/60s signs and boards meant as an on-site reference for type foundries using Monotype hot metal typesetting system.
Talking about my rpi2caster Raspberry Pi based computer control sytstem for the Monotype composition caster.
rpi2caster connects with the RPi over I2C and uses two MCP23017 expanders with four ULN2803 drivers which control 24VDC solenoid valves. Mechanically it's a RPi HAT expansion module, but I never got round to figuring out the device tree overlays and flashing the configuration chip (even though I included it in the design and all units have it).
Not going through the theoretical parts of Monotype design and engineering here. There's a lot to explain about units, set widths, wedges, matrix positions etc. I don't know it all either.
Oh, I'm moving around so much...

TDoV should be a time to celebrate for all of us... Sadly it's not, but it's up to us, the next generations of trans women, men and non-binary people, to do whatever we can to change this.

The Fire Shosha. Shosha rafting on packraft #1: I finally made it...
Rafting down the wild Shosha River on a packraft
It's hard to imagine, but just a few kilometers from the geographical center of Europe (one of 😃) near lake Sho in Vitebsk region, there is a thirty-kilometer piece of truly wild nature, where the small river Shosha flows. It starts from Lake Sho and ends in Lake Plisa, on the shore of which the town of Podsvilje stands.
It is usually rafted in spring or fall, on high water. But this year there were good rains before the heat wave, and I ventured to take a packraft and raft it in the summer. The packraft doesn't need high water and a wide channel. But first you had to get to river...
April 6th is the World Asexuality Day. Talking about my views and experiences of being on the ace spectrum.

I know I'm not good at it. Being born in the age of electronic calculators, I never had the opportunity to use a slide rule back in the day... but being a nerd, I'm learning.
Wait for the sign to flip the switch of death - it's the beginning of the end... Prepare for unforeseen consequences!

By the way, I really need a crowbar in my lab, just in case of unforeseen consequences while doing these tests!
Trying to command and conquer the electronics YT with a series on reverse engineering and device teardowns. Haha.
Starting with an Audiotrak / ESI Maya 1010 soundcard. I got this card without the audio breakout box and cable, and there's no schematics or service manuals around, so I have to figure out the pinout of the high density DB44 audio connector.
