  • EPS 44: What is Communal Living Like? (guest Tammy Perlmutter explains)
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a commune?
Living communally has great rewards and challenges most of us will never really understand. Today’s guest lives with several hundred people in the impoverished urban setting of Uptown Chicago within the intentional community called Jesus People USA established over 40 years ago during the Jesus Movement of the early 1970s. You’ll hear about how she found belonging and acceptance there after surviving a very difficult childhood in the foster care system in Philadelphia.

Hers is a fascinating story and you'll hear how the community works, how you can visit, help, or maybe even start one of your own.

**If you have questions for Tammy about living in a commune, we plan to do a follow-up podcast that delves into the good, the bad, and the ugly of communal life in more depth than we do here, but based on YOUR questions and what you'd like to know about. Tweet to @Tammygrrrl and she'll try to get to as many as she can during that recording.**

Show notes can be found at SparkMyMuse.com will have a lot of extras like photos, links, and get access to more website-only material. Sign up for the update newsletter recommended.

Spark My Muse is released twice weekly.
WEDNESDAYS: Shorter "Soul School lessons" give you something to ponder and practice to improve your everyday life.
FRIDAYS: Longer conversational guest episodes feature topics that will spark your muse.

Tell all your friends about Spark My Muse, will you? Hint around to your enemies about the show too. You could win them over with your renewed interest in their well-being. Slip notes on their windshields or something.

Don't forget to find me on Twitter @lisadelay and there’s also SparkMyMuse the Facebook group which is a place to share your comments, photos, and stories, if you like that sort of thing.

About 3 times per month I do (LIVE) online discussions (usually 2 THURSDAYS per month at 8pm ET, and the 2nd Saturday per month at 11am ET) and those are starting to get very popular. SparkMyMuse.com has REPLAYS of those if you don’t catch them LIVE or find my Twitter alerts with the link. You can sign up for the discussions at blab.im/lisadelay …BUT no pressure. We don’t have to be best friends or anything. Just mull it over and pop in when you can, and if you’d like. See what it's all about.

If you enjoy the show, leave would-be listeners a helpful review of just a sentence or two on iTunes, okay? If you don’t like the show, forget what you just read. Think about glazed donuts and how a warm donut would taste so good right now.

Dashingly attractive listeners in over 146 countries are listening in. And now you are too! Feels good, doesn't it?

Truly, it means a lot to me that you are spending your time with me and hearing what I've been creating. Thanks.
