  • Soul School - Lesson 16 Skills Trumps Passion - Spark My Muse
"Follow Your Passion!" might be the worst advice you can ever get. Cal Newport's take flies in the face of that common adage and I had to share my findings with you.

Each WEDNESDAY join me for a short and potent SOUL SCHOOL. and each FRIDAY come back for a longer episode with a guest.

Stop by SparkMyMuse.com for important links and extras for each episode, and get in on the Friday newsletter too that includes links to articles and REPLAYS to my Live online discussions.

I appreciate that you are spending some time with me and listening in. If you enjoy the show at all, please leave a review on iTunes and include what you liked about the show. You can contact me at SparkMyMuse.com using the contact page if you have questions or suggestions. Or reach out on Twitter: @lisadelay

I'm cooking up some very special goodies for Patrons/subscribers in 2016, so stay tuned for announcements.

  • EPS 46: Community Life and The Power of Confession (part 2)
As promised, Tammy Perlmutter is back for a followup to answer specific questions about communal living!

Can she have her own bank account?
    How are fights resolved?
How are meals, work, and cleaning shared among residents?
What's the hardest part for newcomers?
How does she get time away from the hubbub?
Plus-the surprising quote about CONFESSION that is her life's motto. AND MORE

Living communally has great rewards and challenges most of us will never really understand. Today’s guest lives with several hundred people in the impoverished urban setting of Uptown Chicago in a restored hotel within the intentional community called Jesus People USA established over 40 years ago during the Jesus Movement of the early 1970s.

Show notes with details, photos, and useful links can be found at SparkMyMuse.com -make sure you stop by to check them out.

    HELP! PLEASE WRITE A REVIEW:
Podcasts live and die by the algorithms that come from listener reviews; so I need your help. Leave would-be listeners a helpful review of just a sentence or two, will you? Tell them what they can expect and what you like best. That's it. Thank you SO MUCH.

Spark My Muse is released twice-weekly.
WEDNESDAYS: Shorter "Soul School lessons" give you something to ponder to improve your everyday life and relationships. It's a mid-week boost / HUMP DAY favorite people look forward to.

FRIDAYS: Longer conversational guest episodes feature topics that will spark your muse.

(psst....Signing up for the Friday afternoon newsletter is the coolest. It gives you QUICK LINKS for anything released throughout the week sent directly to your inbox.)

Will you share what you heard on Spark My Muse with a friend? I'm trying to spread the word, but I need your help.

  • Soul School - Lesson 15: Don't Fear the Shake Up
Do you hate the question, "What do you do for a living?". Have you ever asked someone that question and realized how uninteresting it was as soon as you said it... after you heard a deep sigh? Many of us have too many projects going to answer that question well, or we have to do a few jobs to make ends meet. I have a few suggestions on how to ask better "what do you do?" questions and maybe how to answer them better too PLUS a really funny story about my own experience too.

Every Wednesday comes a short episode called Soul School. I'll even give you some homework to boost the effects. You can report your discoveries at Facebook.com/sparkmymuse and see what others are saying. I'd love to hear your suggestions for how to answer the "What do you do for a living?" question in a creative and insightful way when you happen to make a living in a complex sort of way.

Spark My Muse is released twice weekly.
    Listen again on FRIDAY.
FRIDAYS feature longer conversational guest episodes with topics that will spark your muse.

Tell all your friends about the podcast, will you? You can find me (Lisa, your host,) on TWITTER @lisadelay

So, podcasts live and die by the algorithm. It's one of those unfortunate truths iTunes lords over us. That means getting reviews makes a BIG difference, and I need your help. Would you please leave would-be listeners a helpful rating or review? Just a sentence or two on iTunes is perfect.

You are part of the nifty ecosystem of wonderful listeners hearing this in one of the 146 countries listening in worldwide. WOW. That blows my mind to be honest. Thank you so much for spending so time with me today.

I’d love to hear from you. Stop by SparkMyMuse.com and say “hello” using the handy dandy contact page I set up for just that purpose. Or tweet me something.
