Spark My Muse

South Texas is alive with an amalgamation of spiritual traditions and complicated histories that fill the souls of its inhabitants like ghosts and guardian angels. This is duly captured within the artful poetry Carolina Hinojosa-Cisneros, a Tejana of San Antonio, TX.

Today, she shares her story and the cultural background which is central to her work. Even as her work is rich with place, it always comes forth as a savory mixture of what makes up the people and history of South Texas and within many of us. "It’s fascinating how silence is present in scripture but often gets lost in translation," says today's guest–the wonderful author, spiritual teacher, and Lay Cistercian, Carl McColman.

Our conversation covers the ideas and work of some great modern spiritual authors who first inspired him (Thomas Merton, Evelyn Underhill, Thomas Keating, and others) and bygone spiritual writers–both he has curated into his treasure trove of books on those topics.

Using this wisdom we are guided in many lessons into greater wholeness and connection with God and each other.

We also cover the topics of faith, suffering, silence, and how we may rightly calibrate our heart.

This time, Show Notes are free to all --for this episode [Eps 129] at patreon.com/sparkmymuse - Please support this weekly work with monthly support, as you visit.

If you enjoyed the program let me know through the website - It's been completely redone - so check it out. And remember to sign up for the Mini-Course only $14.99. (Early-bird pricing saves you a lot. This end April 16th.)
