Spark My Muse

I found a work recently by writer (celebrated poet) David Bottoms and it reminded me of my father.

A surprise strategy in baseball, it turns out, can teach us about life–and Bottoms reminded me of that again.

Also included is how to find my LIVE Broadcasts of my trip to The Gathering with Krista Tippet and On Being Studios coming soon. Don't miss out on those (or the replays available).

Check out the extras, like photos of the legendary Brooklyn Dodgers and much more here. https://www.patreon.com/posts/16692467

Today, my guest is the vivacious and gifted LaKisha Lockhart–scholar activist and educator.

Our conversation covers Theopoetics (She is the President of ARC [Arts Religion Culture] -A creative collaborative for Theopoetics). We also converse about embodiment and theological education in her work with black youth through STREAM Youth Theology Institute at Virginia Union University and her courses she teaches at VUU. We talk about challenging and altering a hegemonic narrative we sometimes don’t even realize has such a hold, the role of play in education, womanist perspectives, and how to address our blind spots when it comes to approaching diversity and if we are leaving voices and stories out.

The bonus material (links, extra info, photos, etc.) for this episode which also includes a recommended BOOK LIST with links (which was provided Professor Lockhart after our recording), is invaluable and available here.

Get to the Official Spark My Muse Website over here. There is plenty to read, watch, and listen to.

At the website, you can connect with or get more information about your host, Lisa DeLay. Or, you visit the Spark Store ---for nifty t-shirts, hats, socks, and coffee mugs— and get in on the newsletter/update list (which gets you a coupon code for the Spark Store too).

Do you appreciate what you hear and the work that comes out each week? To give a one-time gift, of any amount, to help the program stay afloat give here,.

Thank you for sharing this program. The message is so important.

This audio is provided today to create space and respite for you. Come and listen and we will be together for this goodness.

I have three short and beautiful pieces to share with you; and then a small bit of reflection and invitation for you as well. I hope you will continue your reflection at here as a supporter of the program. All the pieces I’m reading will be there to savor and enjoy as well as easy links and info to the books where you can find them.
